gday matt, hows it going.

My mate has just bought a xa coupe, the paintwork on it is pretty good (had respray a few years ago)

He would just like to know what products you would recomend to use for the washing, drying, polishing etc...

He is a real perfectionist, so he wants the best of the best! At the moment he is using meguiers tech wax, but i told him the products that you provide are quite a lot better than that stuff.

If you could let me know what products you reccomend using. It doesnt matter how much they are, or how many products he needs to buy, he just wants the gear.

Also, if your going to be at summernats, is there any chance of picking up the goods there, as i will be down there.

If you could let me know, that would be great.

On another note..... Did you ever get around to writing up a tech doc? I think it would be a great idea to write up a doc for us all to go by, That goes from start to finsish and then maintaining both inside and out. This thread is fairly long, and it takes a long time to go through all the pages to find the info that your after (it sucks being on dial up!.) Also maybe include the products that you would recommend for each step.

It was only just a thought i had, after trying to scroll through all the pages last night trying to find the name of the polish/wax stuff that you use.

Thanks matey

Hey Ben, nice post

Sure I can do that. Unfortunately some of our gear is stuck in customs and rest is still on the way and will also end up at customs. so we won't have any products available to buy at summernats (bummer) but I will be bringing products, rotary, orbital etc, signage to go on the burnout truck and may do some demo's with the whole range if we have sufficient shade and enough interest. Be happy to talk in depth with you at any time whilst there.

OK products wise, I recommend the following

Washing - Driven to Perfection Protective Auto Wash
Meguiars wool or microfibre wash mitt (I'm still looking for the ultimate mitt)

Can use in spray and wipe at the coin op car wash too, before you begin with the high pressure water

Drying - 1 x Pakshak Waffle weave 25 x 36 inch microfibre drying towel, 1 x pakshak ultra soft drying towel (will last for up to six years)
Around $25 to 32 dollars each.

Claying - clay Magic blue clay bar
Prepsol (get from paint supplies shop) to remove meguiars tech wax

Polishes

Without seeing the car's paint condition (swirls, scratches etc), It's hard to say exactly which polishes to go for for maximum defect removal but will put three recommendations down and what I believe will give the ultimate shine

Prima Cut is really limited to machine use only so we'll move to the next one down

#1

Step 1 Prima Swirl (takes out 1500 to 2000 grit scratches)
Step 2 Prima Finish (2000 to 2500 grit)
Step 3 Prima Amigo (non abrasive glaze)
Step 4 Glare Professional Polish (non abrasive permanent glaze & sealant)

#2

Driven to Perfection Finish Restorer (same strength as Swirl)
Driven to Perfection Auto polymer polish (non abrasive)
Glare Professional Polish

#3

Prima Swirl
Prima Finish
Driven to Perfection Auto polymer polish

I highly recommend Glare Professional Polish, Prima Amigo & Driven Auto polymer polish for the ulimate high gloss finish

Any of these options will knockout all swirls and scratches or most of them by hand (definately by machine) and give a brilliant shine

Prima Amigo is a new chocolate cake scented glaze that fills in marks and enhances color richness, wetness, glassy reflections and overall lustre of the paint dramatically.

You can follow with Driven Auto polish or Glare to lift it up a little more and protect the paint

The advantage with my products is that they are all multi purpose
Driven Auto polish will polish almost any automotive, household and marine surface to a super high gloss wet look and it protects the paint with it's super polymer formula for up to a year and can be applied several times.

Glare works on plastic, glass, metals, wheels, wood, ceramics, paint, exterior moldings and many more and will protect for 8 to 16 months and stop oxidation and loss of shine for five years

If you can provide me with a close up photo of the car under halogen or any other artificial light (at summernats or here), that would be extremely helpful

it will tell me how much swirling and scratching there is and I can say instantly which scratch removing polish to use.

Your friend will love these products.

P.S. We use Fastway couriers as of January 2008 so orders will arrive the same day if ordered early enough, next day or within two days at the latest

As soon as our gear is cleared through customs by our broker, I'll put it on the forum

The Driven products have arrived and are now proudly sitting on the shelves. Prima slick, nero and hydro are also here with Cut, Swirl, Finish and Amigo yet to arrive.

The Prima Monster fluffy towels should be on their way now too.

Hey buddy, Just wanting to bring some life back into the vinyl parts of the interior on my mercedes, havew tried meguiars interior foam but it leaves a wetness on the vinyl.

Do you know of any products that will rejuvenate and condition the vinyl?

Also what do you recommend as a leather restorer? I have some leatherique products at home (small bottle of the conditioner and a small bottle of the actual cleaner)
Do you know anything better?

Also have some stains on the carpet in the back of the car but want to clean them away without damaging the carpet in any way any ideas?

Thankyou!

G'day Mr Fairlane

Leatherique is considered to be the be all and end all of leather care products but Effax leather oil is one that will really soak into non clearcoated leather (the good quality leather) and given some time to dry, should make them really supple again

Driven to Perfection's VLRP is a conditioning protectant. I use it on my 1994 toyota hilux which has hard vinyl dash.
Applied via the instructions on the back, it will rejuvinate them (need degreaser to take out heavy stains) and protect them from UV and heat and is totally dry to the touch.

You will get a low to moderate gloss shine with that product so if you want less shine, maybe Prima Nero is the way to go.

Omikron OC-120 is a foaming degreaser and can be easily sprayed onto carpet and seats, lightly brushed into surface and then vacuumed up with a dry vac. It will take out chewing gum on carpet as well.

I also can give you a sample of Four star Professional carpet & upholstery cleaner and OC-120 once I pick up my stock of empty bottles, I can fill and send out those samples and either Prima Nero or Driven VLRP.

best wishes

Matt

Hi Everyone
I decided to see how much better I could get our BF Falcon XR6 turbo ute's window trims and wiper arms today

It had been given the full trim dream treatment several months ago and after not being washed for over two months, I gave it one and the trims were just as good as when trim dream was applied

I decided to use the final step product of the trim dream system with a soft foam pad by hand

As millard has said before, trims turn to glass after they have been done

After much calculation, the RRP price for the Mats Magic Trim Dream is the following

$65.00 (375ml in total from 3 x 125ml bottles)

Trim Dream step 1 and 2 only (for those who don't want their trims so insanely shiny.

$43.00

good work mate. prety fair price on the TRIM DREAM considering how well it works and the number of cars you could do with that amount.
you should throw up a befor and after pic of my window trims, the change is amazing, it realy does feel like glass when you touch it. keep up the good work man.

I thought I had put some on here but looking back, I haven't so here goes

Before - grey and flat

Image

After by machine - a massive improvement
I reckon the new V4.20 step 3 of trim dream by hand would make them even better

Image

Right o, I'm off to post ben's order.
Catch ya all later
