Installed the parking globes into the high beam centre headlight. Pics dont do it justice! Sweet mod! Pictures on next page! Just an idea, Not sure how it would look. Im thinking about adding parking globes in the high beam headlights of my xr so when the lights are on, the high beams have the glow of parkers to change the look of it at night. 1: Would this be legal? 2: Would fitting parker globes into the lense effect the light spread? 3: Anyone think it'd look any good? Just thought it'd be something differnent.....

I reckon it'd look good, I always thought thats were tyhey were but then heard they were with the indicators. Silly Ford.
So long as you use normal park light globes (i.e. not blue or anything) shouldn't have any legal issues. Don't damage the reflector shinny stuff to much when you drill in to fit the globe and should all be good I reckon. |

Park globes arn't big, you'd just have to drill an 8mm hole and do something to hold it there. If your willing to be dodgy a bita clear silicone or something'd hold it in place and be easy to remove if necessary. |

Might take a trip to the wreckers today and have a look around for some ideas. In terms of wiring it up, just tap into the existing parkers wiring and jump it across to the next globe?

Picked these up from the local auto shop. Narva part no: 49812.
Its just a simple glode holder with a rubber base that pushes into the lens. All up with globes was less than $10. Does anyone know if the parkers stay on when you turn the actual headlights and/or high beams on?

You could put a relay in there to stop it though, but would require leaving the original parkers working too. Would look good, and i can provide wiring diagrams if youd like. Just send me a pm. the only thing is, where would you put them to not affect the current light output, and to give a reasonable glow throughout the light when parkers alone are on?

Im not sure of the possition, I'll Have to do some experimentation with them at night to see where the best place is.
The current parkers glow well so hopefully these will too if positioned right. I want them to glow all the time as soon as either the parkers or headlights are turned on

Sounds like a really neat idea mate. I'd say tapping them into your existing parkers wouldn't be too much of a problem - they're very low current globes. It shouldn't burn anything out.

Thanks pully but im sure it's been done before, just havent seen it yet.
Hopefully be done over the weekend if I can spare the time so I'll post pics monday if all goes to plan.

yeh i dont see why it'd be illegal. BA's had problems with the running lamps because they were too low to be parkers and wired wrong to be driving/fog lamps, but a parker/running lamp at headlight height shouldnt be an issue i dont think
