The headlight to taillight line matches up pretty well too.

I have pondered this myself, but I would rather the AU series 2 and 3 front on one of these.
Photoshoped pics look really good. I also think the AU was too far ahead of it's time. if the BA came out first then the AU maybe people would be more accepting. BTW got my eye on a AU mont, mate wants $3k for it and it's in mint condition.

When my AU was in getting the front reconstructed after the roo rooted it, the panel beater suggested putting the BA roof and front and rear glass on the AU shell, seeing as the BA is essentially AU in the guts. Only problem with that idea was we thought the roof of the BA was too long because of the BA wheelbase stretch. Would have looked awesome I think cos the roof and arch of the front and rear screens were what made it look like a blob.

I have seen an AU xr8 ute with the BA xr8 front with bonnet bulge. not sure how the did it, as I recall AU's have a better turning circle, than the BA. Maybe the suspension was changed to make the panels fit. Would be nice having an BA with a windsor.

I was under the impression that the V8 Brutes had a lot of AU BA Hybrids when the new shape came out as most of the parts were bolt on, obviously the screen and roof arent bolt ons though.

I'm also getting confused. I remember seeing in Wheels or Motor or something a pik which pointed out all the differences - but other than the front and taillights I always assumed the roof etc was virtually identical. I mean, if they actually made any appreciable changes to the AU design they are so subtle that I'm not sure why they bothered. I was riding to work this morning and there was an AU and a BA stopped in the traffic next to each other - even comparing the roofline next to each other I can't pick much difference...

I think the AU to BA change was similar to the ED to EF.
Similar shell and doors, redone front and rear, and all the new designed suspension, engine, computer, gearbox too I think, interior, wiring.
