Hey guys,

Drove my F6 for the first time in a couple of weeks today and when i got to work i noticed a deep scratch on my bonnet lid. It gets parked next to a lift in my building and obviously someone leant against it and maybe put a box with some keys underneath it and scratched the living f**k out of it. Very p****d off!

Now, the paint touch up guy mentioned it too deep to just touch up and mentioned it might buff out and then he can just touch it up with clear coat. He mentioned that the only way to get rid of it would be to repaint the bootlid completely which would cost around $1000.

Does this sound right?

Should post up a pic. But I reckon 1k sounds pretty close. They'll have to match the colours prefect I reckon buff it and forget about it

1k for a respray of a bonnet is bullsh!t!!! i would definitetly shop around and matching the colours wont be a problem, your car is pretty new so its not as though the paint on the rest of the panels would have faded making it harder to match

I had a bloke here in Melbourne pull 2 dents from the bonnet of my BF, one of which required a little bog.

He then resprayed the areas that were touched (bottom 1/4 of bonnet) and blended the rest in. At the same time he fixed up a number of deep scratches and stone chips.

Then recleared the bonnet.

Matches perfectly and you cant tell there was ever any work done.

All for the princely sum of $400. And this was in FPV Ego, not a plain colour.

So, $1k to me sounds way over the top.

You can get a whole car sprayed for $599. but would you. Matching paint has nothing to do with how old or faded the car is. You can get a car off the showroom and mix the paint to code and it wont match. It must be tinted and then feathered to match the rest of the car. 1k aint to bad if you want it to last.

MSC Kustoms was $250 to prep and paint a panel 2 years ago, maybe see them.
