Gday everyone good to see the site working again.
Im thinking today to go and pick up a brand new passenger side mirror for my ef cause i have no glass in the one i have now. I can pick the assembly up for $95 only problem is its black. So i wanted to know what id need to paint it white and how much it would cost. Thanks guys....Or if someone is selling a white one in perfect condition that would be great |

Sounds like a GLi mirror. What was the quote on a futura one? Should be colour coded.

I didnt know there was a difference? I just asked for an electric passenger side mirror and he said hes got them there for $95. So i asked if it was in white but he said they are brand new and black.

Is this from a ford place or a wrecker or something?
GLi came with black side mirrors, Futura and above were colour coded. Although shouldnt be too much drama getting a black one repainted.

Its from a wrecker. I also got an aftermarket power window assembly brand new for 145 last week from him. It beat payin $350 even if he lied and was second hand lol.

Plastic Primer, spray pack of white paint that matches your car, and a clear spray pack.
Cost you about $20-30 I reckon... |

just did mine on my GLi...... pulled them off then sanded them down, applied some plastic primer then paint (4 coats) then clear coat (3coats) cost me 20bux all up.....

paid $55 for each mirror on mine which is f**k expensive but it was baked enamel and the guy did a f**k awesome job!!

What grit sand paper do you use? When applying coats do you wait for it too fully dry or fairly close to fully dry?

Try to use 800 grti wet and dry as it is just enough to score the surface without having scratch marks when you paint it. Sand off all the black gloss on the mirror. Wipe it over witha cloth to get rid of ther dust. Spray it with primer about two to three coats ( use good auto stuff not the s**t,
super crap stuff) let it dry fully. Then hit it with a pressure pack with about two to three coats. let it dry fully. rub it back Slightly and then hit it with 3 goes of top clear,,,dry it then buff off the orange peel if theres any. my 2c
