HAs anyone got an ef or el xr and installed those HID headlights with ballasts in them from ebay? Just wondering what the difference is between normal xr beams and ones with HID's. Also has anyone noticed a poorer/duller light beam than normal ef/el headlights?

were u at the cruise on wed night?
i have high/low HIDs in my ED XR front and just ask some people that were on the cruise how they were. ive been told that the standard XR lights are pretty s**t. well the HIDs definatley fix that:)

Has anyone had any drama with the constabulary, or other people on the road using the HID's in the XR lights?
Are they too bright for public roads, or does no one really notice? |

The advantage of the XR lights is they're projectors, so a sealed beam you can actually control, reflectors in like the monts and such are f**k, and spray light everywhere. That said, even with bright HIDs in the mont's reflectors no cop attention. |

Beautiful, i've been tossing up about getting a set and seeing how they go, but i don't really need another reason for the wrong cop to pull me up...
Looks like it might be a goer, seeing as the standard XR headlights with whatever globe you can get, are still s**t. |

Are the EF-L XR headlights the same as in the ED because if they are I can't see why you'd be whinging about the light they put out. My low beam lights up almost as much as my mum's GLi with high beam on.
At first I though they might have needed centreing or something but no, they are just freakin' bright and with no HIDs. |

My EL XR has s**t headlights as well. Are the HIDs on Ebay dodgy brothers ones or are they proper ones? Anyone got a link? What do you have to do to fit them?

Basically plug them in to your factory headlight connector, then mount the ballast and put the globe in (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLOBE WHATEVER YOU DO), not rocket science. Took me 30 mins to do the ones in my fairmont, and they were ebay jobbers. Just search on ebay 6000k h1 HID, that's pure white light, looks real nice. |

To say Regie's lights were annoyingly bright would be an understatement!!

Being 'annoying' bright is what i'm a little worried about, as i don't want to be pissing off every other driver on the road.
No one i know with an EF/EL XR has anything good to say about their headlights... |
