I cant get the dome light to turn on via the headlight dimmer switch on my EF. I turns on when the doors are opened but not when i use the switch. I have replaced the switch with a known working unit but it still doesnt work. Any ideas?

The doors turn on the dome light via the BEM, however the dimmer/light switch sends an earth directly to the dome light on the black-blue wire. Check that you have an earth available at the light switch on the black wire.
Note there are variations of the lights/dimmer switch so make sure your known good switch is the correct type and not from say a high series BEM car. Avagoodweegend C | ||

The high series switches run a green connector on the rear casing, while the low series have a beige coloured one - I doubt the dome light operation will differ between the two.
If the dim selection works, the issue lies with the black/blue wire. Earth the wire manually to confirm where the fault lies.

Thanks for your help. It turns out the previous owner installed an aftermarket cd player and mucked around with the blue/black wire. All sorted now.javascript:emoticon(':D')
