hey.
i was thinkin bout fitting a hid conversion kit to my ba. i believe the headlights are h4, the highbeams are h7, and the bottom driving lights (fog Lights) are h3. would i only get a kit for the h4's or the lot?? wat bout the other lights? and wats the process for fitting the Hid's?? how difficult is it?? thanx dean |

hardest thing about the process is finding a place to hide the ballasts. it all plugs into the original wiring in like 20 mins.
i'd do the high and low beams, as if you only do the lows, the highs will look very yellow next to them.

I think that you should only do your low beams, and get something like the arctic ice/blue vision globes for your high beam. This is what I have done with both of my cars. HID's will take a couple of seconds to warm up when first switched on, meaning that flashing your high beams will be useless.

good point. the only reason i pointed this out is i put 'super white' globes in my high beams- they made my lows look 'super yellow'. then i put hid lights in my low beams- they then made my 'super white' highs look yellow!!

You prolly wont use your highs that much anyways, plus your lows nad highs will be on at the same time, so would be an interesting colour
No problems with HID kits destroying peoples electrics so far then? 
They're getting more and more cheaper on ebay the kits made in Japan. So I begin to worry how long they will last and what sort of damage they will do for $60-80. |

Dont HIDs create a lot of heat??
Does the heat affect the plactic lenses of the EF onward headlights?? Thanks David

The heat does not effect the lenses in the EF's I have 600k in mine and they are fantastic and have no warping or melting.

there illegal as they arent made to be put in like this, and cause a hazard for drivers coming the other way...
the kits are absolute rubbish compared to the OEM stuff.... My fathers car has OEM HID's and the light they put off is phenomenal!

the kit i got just plugs into the original harness. it has its own wiring that then plugs into the globes.

You shouldn't have any trouble with putting them in yourself. But as fordriver1 stated, finding a good spot to hide the ballast is the hardest thing. The results are great. I don't think they go any further than the halogens its just that they are are long clearer (6000K fitted on mine). And they supposedly throw out less heat too. Though I'm yet to test that theory out. But all that said I can't help but wonder what a set of properly engineered ones (ones that are ment to be there) would be like. I would just replace the H4's firstly just to see whether you like them or not. But beware because like Mitch_ said they are illegal.

on the passenger side i put the ballast in the airbox under the airfilter. on the drivers side- behind the battery on the inner guard.

i recon you put the hids in high beams they ponit more direct and i would put super white blue ones whatever in ya normal low beam who cares about the yellow to white colour diffrence u really think someone is going to stare into h.i.ds and see the colour
every driver is going to flash u if u put hids in ya low beam i bet after 1 week u would remove em hids are a much better light and high beams are for seeing more ahead i know the pros n cons on every way it would be done as for the oem compaired to kits off ebay there is no diffrence its a type of globe filled with gas n metal when the light turns on it arcs via the ballast the gas heats it up and the metal gives u the light the diffrence u see is in the filter and refector design any car in the ford range where not designed for hid globe use |
