are you making a custom dash top or is it going into a BA?

if your going custom look at gettin an after market commodore one for the VY/VZ made by SS induction or something?

either way its about 100 bucks

Its not for mine, its for my cousin, and it'll be going into a BA.. aparently its a straight fit on a XR6T. Problem is getting the part is a bit difficult.. anyone here work at a ford dealer?

I'll have a look at the SS inductions kit however, maybe that will do the trick as well

Anyone else have any ideas?

Yeah, I've soon both the original part, a copy of the part and another part that takes industry standard gauges for sale on ebay.

The original part I remember seeing go for uquite a princely sum WITHOUT any of the gauges in it.

[Hi Guys,
I just recently bought a mark II ba xr6 and wanted the gauge pod for my falcon at $650.00 odd and I got the same story from ford spare parts of if I wanted the original FPV pod, i had to provide CURRENT REGISTRATION PAPERS before I could take them. So just having the numbers are not enough.
I decided to buy the ss inductions version in smooth, from Hardimans in Milperra NSW FOR $68.00. It was a very poor fit, I wasn't also keen on the hole plugs and it looks cheap.
I thought about it for a while and decided to modify it.
I cut out the double gauge carefully on the grinder just before it comes up, then sanded the edges smooth, I then positioned in the right place, marked it out with a pencil and glued it with 5 minute araldite to the original ford panel, I also used electical tape around the pod to mask it for glue overspill. I then trimmed any excess glue with a sharp cutting knife just before the glue hardens.
Lightly sand it with 400, then 1000 grade paper. It was looking real good. To paint it to match the rest of the centre console I purchased the spray tins from SUPER CHEAP AUTO for $10.00 each and applied two base coats of Power plus strato grey code PJ9294 (dark grey) and then a very light coat of Tungsten code PJ6260 AND LET IT DRY OVERNIGHT!!
As for gauges I used hardimans 2 1/2 inch vot meter and oil pressure gauges $ 160.00and back lights were blue driving bulbs from super cheap auto for $10.00 cost.
The next day it looked magnificent and also looked genuine, and then I just pushed clipped it in just like the original. Every one who has seen it believes it was off the ford shelf. The total cost was around $250.00 Good luck . regards Sam

Hi RUTHLESS, i will try to upload the pictures, give me few days. But i can definetly say you will be stoked by the result, I forgot to mention it took me a weekend to make it from start to finish.
I was also talking to the owner of Hardimans(Red line) Milperra NSW and he has also a BA FALCON (ford lover) and he was talking about trying to get a black faced gauge that will light up blue, the needle is very similar to the ford style, and he will even be putting the round silver bit on the dial needle, give him a call and push him along. Anyway If you muck it up dont worry, I picked up another panel from a ford wrecker for only $10.00., SO FOR $80-$100.00 your back to square one, so what its only time spent . The ford wrecker reckons I could easily sell them for aroud $350 - $400 each as they are constantly asked for them. I might consider it, but definetly give it a go, it is so worth it, you will be suprised the amout of other xr drivers that rubber neck just to see it in traffic

They are only available on FPV vehicles and simply click in (too easy to steel) as a manager at FPV realised whilst i was there last week. You may have to call FPV direct and im sure the price will be steep. The loom should also be there but think only on BA XR's.

:) The gauge holder is a go from SS Inductions, ring Kevin or Kaye on 07 55972393 they have them for sure, you will be paying a little bit more than 100 bucks though, hope that helps.
