Hey everyone, I want to replace the cruise buttons on my S2 AU. The clips that pop out behind the wheel reveal what I thought were torx bolts. I went and bought a set so I could take everything apart, but they don't fit. The things I bought were 6 points with the recess in the middle for the nub on the bolt, but the bolt in the falcon is only a 5 point thing.
What tool do I need to get to this bolt? I went to supercheap to find something cheap to do it, but they didn't have anything. Cheers.

its a specific type of torx bit, it has a different pitch to std torx bits.
i had the same problem when i changed the wheel on my mrs au. i ended up drilling the centre of the torx head and wedged a flat driver bit in there and with a bit of muscle as it seemed that they had loctite on them?? i got 1 out and the other, i ended up drilling the whole torx head off, and once the horn pad/airbag was off i could get the remaning thread out... i then just replaced them with allen/hex drive bolts insted... |

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go if I can't find the right tool. Anyone know if I can buy the right torx bit?

I got mine through Tool specialists - It's a T-30 5 sided tamper-proof Torx bit you need - cost around $10...
I had to pull the top half of the column in to take it in to them - No way do they make 5 sided Torx bits they said! - The older salesman did some enquiries & presto! They had one the next day.... |

Cheers Darrell, I'll be using that bit of info to get me one of them ![]() Hey Ash! Make sure you ask the older tall guy with the glasses for it - He might have vivid memories of a madman walking in with a Ford column & wheel tucked under his arm ![]() |
