Hi. I have a question for the LPG fitters or those with some LPG experience. I am looking at buying an EL xr8 soon and i want to put it on lpg. i currently have a tidy XF with an impco system (225 mixer and L conv) and love the reliability and economy the system provides.

my questions are these:
- what system do you recommend for the E eries 5 litre. i plan to modify the engine with some performance mods so something tunable and that will provide for say 200-230 kw at engine.
- do you need a closed loop system for these cars?
-do the 5L enignes handle gas well or do the heads need reco'ing after limited use
- how much would one such a system cost to be fitted?
- does the government rebate have an end date. ie are they not offering it after a certain date.

Thanks alot in advance
Jason

Had eb 5L with impco 425 feedback which did 250000km on gas and had 420000km when sold. The only prob, i had. Needet new gas converter, Impco type L after about 200000km on gas. You will be lucky to make 150kw with stock 5Lv8 on gas. The impco425 is rated 460cfm or 210kw. The Impco 200t is rated at 680cfm or 425hp. Not sure if it would fit as there is limited room. My research tells me, to make real power you are better running strait gas. Heads, inlet, extracktors, cats, tb, mas air sensor, cam, all big doller items, will need to be upgradet to make power you want. So think long and Hard before you buy.

I found this, but maybe it was just speculation, and I'd been misinformed...

that was an article from before the budget...

they have kept the rebate but there is a limit on the cash available....once the gov spends there allowance you will have to wait until the next financial year to get your rebate..

Here is a pic of my AU2 XR8 with Impco 425 mixer and Impco E converter. This setup was fitted by auzgas in bayswater. I originally had a B2 converter on it but found it couldn't flow enough gas for the 220kw motor and changed it to a Impco E. After a dyno tune by Eric at goodguys performance centre it made 140kw at the wheels. The biggest limitation with the 425 is the restrictive adapters you need to make it fit. I am working on improving this part of it to make more power.

Has anyone fitted a 425 on a i6, as the 225 seems restrictive

we called ausindustry about the rebate today.
it is still at $2000 and will be until at least the next budget.

it is still going to 2014 but it gets reviewed at every budget.
