I have been told that the Mk 1 BA 5sp was a T5. However I haven't had anyone trial fit. Worse case, buy it, if it doesnt fit then can onsell to a EA-AU owner

Any particular reason you went for the short handle kilma?

Just coz it was there. I will be getting the shifter still. Just going to get the handle from BPT because of the bias to the driver side of the car.
I know Hotwire said the group buy ones can be bolted onto the other side, but I thought I might as well go with the one made for Aussie cars. That and I don't have the extra $40 at the moment. Oh well.
