I didnt think you were allowed to sell 'standard issue' XXX-555/XXX-55X plates.. only the 'Personal' plates.

I recall reading it in the booklet a few years ago when i purchased my personal plates. I still see heaps of people selling them in the trading post though..

I'm not sure how the RTA could stop you from transferring the plates onto someone elses' car and accepting a cash payment from that person for doing it.

The transfer fee is $10 from memory.

Maybe RTA will come and burn your car or something :P

That might explain why my car was torched, months after getting plates swapped. Doh

Well the pricks at the RTA (was that a bit harsh?) told me they could be transfered to immediate family only (still how would they know?). And another thing. Does any one else find it frustrating that they now charge you $100 bucks a year for customised white plates? I mean I dont mind paying extra for something if your getting more but lets face it, were not. We have the worst roads in the country (nsw that is) and are the highest taxed motorists. Just another example of Bob "anti" Carr's governments greed and mismanagement I guess.

I dunno... i was in sydney the other week and it all looked pretty sweet. Maybe you should check out some of adelaide's roads? Looks like everyone DUI because we're all swerving to miss craters in the road...

BTW nice signature.... and like the gauges in ur dash (user gallery).

meh.. i'm paying $400/yr for my plates. XR8Chic has 2 cars with personal plates. yikes!

1 set was enough for me. I got my FMD04L plates before they were charing an anual fee.. but i'm going to waive that when I get the new plates to match the new donk ;)
