What sort of power are you after ??
A wastgated Gt3540 for $1850 would save heaps and still make over 350 / 300 rwkw @ 12/ 15 Lb and thats over what the trans will take!!!
$8k would be o/k if it included intercooler..
Btw split pulse is realy a benefit when your using big turbo on small engine.. T04E is not supper large on a 4.0...The Gt series are not spit pulse and thay make heaps power...
These make 700 h.p max..

8 grand... well its all gear but would be nice if he did the intercooler too as you'd be pretty silly to spend that much and not intercool it... they stopped running cars without coolers in the late 80s...

1500 isnt too bad if it was a good to4, but if its a china job then its most likely crap... but think about the prices for a manifold, wastegate, dump pipe... they will go over 1500 alone

Find out what flange is on the manifold... most likely be a T3 or T4 flange, so your covered for pretty much all garrett turbos.

Can you get a pic of the turbo and post it up? Or look on the back of the comp housing, there should be an ID tag which will tell you what it is... look out for dodgy garrett ripoffs... Xpower theyre called. avoid them

yeah ill have to get some pics up.

thanks for the awesome info.

The setup for 8k was run on a STOCK auto ED with 3.27 single spin diff and electronic shift kit. and it was running 12.7s coz i saw it at the motorplex, which is how i found out about the kits..

Are peppertree manifolds good?
Tony said he wont install other setups, but he will install an EMS and tune it with all the fuel parts upgraded (pump injectors etc)for 3k. Would that be worth it?

3 grands about the going rate, not bad if it includes pump and injectors and good dyno tune.

High 12s are the go for that kind of set up... though i wouldnt do it without an intercooler

I think that flange is T3 size and it run a Gt35/40 and broke well into 11 seconds...
Did you buy recently?? Including dump pipe?
For street use and simplicity it'll serve you well...

didnt really understand ya post there mate ^^ ???/
:S

the guy i talked about at the start of the thread with the cheap setup, said i could have everything minus the turbo for 900 bucks..
do u think i should buy it? or is it too risky? I was thinking if i did buy it, i could buy a decent T04 or similar and bolt it up, fork out 3k for the computer/fuel upgrade and get going?

HE gave me some more information about the turbo he was trying to sell me.
He said it was a turbo technics turbo with these numbers on it:
TYpe TO4e ,Part NO t3/t
4040328134-4
And a T imprint on the dark coloured part of the turbo.. (dunno what he means by that)
So if i rang up turbotechnics could the able to match that part? Or should i still be worried as it may be a copy?

tony's turbos are good. Very pedantic tho and are'nt the most cost effective. He designs the kits to last forever. 8K is alot really, but if your goin to go for anything over 15 psi and put a intercooler on too, its not too bad.
