Hi all,

Had my XR6T Flashed the other day....WOW!!!

What a difference and only on the 8psi generic tune.

I havent even tried the 10psi setting....

Im just a little concerned that the stock motor will s**t itself or a component due to the extra power.

I understand that a custom tune is the way to go, but till i can afford to go down that path, are there any horror stories from members that have run the generic tunes on their motors???

But the end story is for BANG for your BUCK... this is the way to go.

KPM motorsport in S.A sold me the tuner ($695 brand new) and i couldnt rate this place any higher! if your in S.A... PAY THEM A VISIT - you wont be dissapointed :D

custom tune is the way to go for sure, there are no real horror stories with the generic tunes afaik, maybe a dyno run just to check the afr's.
the 8psi wont hurt your motor either.
i would make sure u get your plugs gapped to 0.8 as well. :)

Motor will be fine. Rods and valvesprings are the weak spots if your running around 12psi+ and really giving it beans on a regular basis. I'd be more worried about the rest of the drivetrain, especially if it's a T5.

mate 10psi tune will be completely fine on ur stock engine. Only thing that you will have to do is minimally gap ur plugs to atleast 0.8, otherwise get some the f6 typhoon plugs from ford ($11 each), and gap those ones to 0.8 otherwise theres a good chance its gonna ping like a bastard on the 10psi.

Also on the 10psi tune, theres a good chance first time u give it some its gonna go BANG!

relax. Its the pipe coming off ur x-over, the stock clips are s**t... on the left side of ur crossover theres 2 pipes, the smallest one closest to the front of car is the hassle one, get a strong clip for it and will be all good

chuck it on the 10 and have some fun

10psi is fine for the motor but there has been people blowing gearboxes autos and manuals around the 260rwkw. If your t is stock besides the flash it should only be putting out around 240rwkw on 10psi so should be fine.

I said this to myself for 6 months - then saw the flasher for $695 and thought... F*** it I have waited long enough.... and man am i happy i did it.... so do it mate - you wont be dissapointed.

Thanks for the replies guys. It is a releif to know i wont be hurting my motor on the generic tunes... That said - when i CAN afford the custome tunes I wont hesitate to get them loaded. I have noticed some lag between gear changes and im hoping the custom run will resolve this.

eb-guy - i heard a sort of bang on the 8psi - ill have to check these clips your talking about...

Cheers

trust me mate, u wont notice a "sort of bang" lol u will notice a "HOLY f**k WHAT THE f**k WAS THAT f**k BANG f**k" lol

You are talking about custom tune which is fine, but thats not like the tunes you have now, thats when you have to start changing internals and things. Look at a rebuild of your gearbox, bigger injectors, possibly a new fuel pump before you can get the custom tune done. Gearbox is main priority as tune will b getting u to 300kw at the wheels and that is bang time for ur box

What is a generic tune???
I am thinking it is a pre-tune. Like the flash tuner already has it grogramed onto it, am i right???
And a custon tune is when they custom tune the flash tuner to your own car.
Another question is is it the same unit, i mean if i was to get the generic tune and then in a couple months can afford a custom tune can i use the same flash tuner???
May seem like a stupid question but i just want to clarify it

f**k that! It just so happens that KPM are having a dyno day on the 16th of june.....and I will be in Adelaide.....with my turbo......hmmmmm now to talk the missuss into the flash tuner

Seriously, from all acounts KPM are the go. And they are having a dyno day on that date. From memory $45 gets you 3 runs. Its a national comp with a few different classes. Check out kpm motorsports.com.au
