Car's looking real nice there Frankie....

Maybe you could get a bit more boost by spinning a lot faster, but down-side your engine redline will be much lower as you will over rev the blower and prolly f.u.k.k it. I would say 2 1/2' tube would be as big as you would need.

Cheers

Thanks for the tips guys... I'm planning on starting big and working my way down.. If I see a yella terra snout for sale I'll be grabbing it or I'll just get this one shaved I guess.

I've just sold one of our cars (Seirra) now.. so will have more time to spend on this thing now....

The more I think about it.. the more I realise I'll be happy with around 200-220 rwkw if it doesn't have to work to hard to achieve it.. it's mostly drivability I want anyway...

One of the reasons I chose water to air over air to air is because there is massively less pressure drop as nowhere near as much piping to push though....

I have yet to buy a J3 chip and programmer too.... I have an air fuel guage and walbro 255lt pump and a RR fuel reg.. so just about got all the bits I need.

SORRY i havent answered you frank, some nice doctor told me i had cancer of the tounge, so i have been flat out having cemo radiation etc. anyhow getting past that s**t and im getting better so i want to get back into my car, im driving my sc at 2.4 times crank, that being 6.5" au2 harmonic and 2.7" pulley on the snout, now reading a lot of thunderbird, mustang forums i should be seeing 10-12 psi but im not, just before i took sick i changed the intake to 75mm/3", removed the gas ring etc.

got a small increase, now seeing 7-8 psi, but still think 65mm throttle body is resticting the flow, got a 75mm on the way from states as we speak, will be a direct bolt on for ea-au tb's may have to sell to the boys, see how i go

going direct injection gas soon, i am qual'd in lpg so no issues there just need bits, want to use special soleniods so i can run nitrous through them as well.

want to get better and run full throttle till i run out of road, hopefully years away

Jeez mate, sorry to hear about the cancer...... bad sh!t....

You have a big air to air cooler?? it would be costing you at least 3 psi I'm told.

Direct gas injection would be the go.... more advance...... I've been looking at a vapour injection upgrade for my gas system.. I've seen them go on Ebay for 550....

Not yet...

The charger is all bolted up to the new engine and ready to go.. however I want to convert to a manual as well so I'm waiting for a box to arrive. I called the guy I'm hoping to get one from and he has everything else I need. (bell housing etc) but no box yet... so still waiting.

I'm doing some other stuff on the car like pulling out the dash to swap it and put in a manual pedal box and other such stuff while waiting. All the charger work I can do now is done.. I do want to make a method of easily changing the timing from above as it will be a monster job to do without mods with the charger in place. (If it works the way I want, there will be an extended lock bolt you can loosen easily when needed, and a long adjustment threaded shaft at the front that I can use to rotate the dizzy back and forth easily for when tuning time comes... )

having kids and trying to get rid of all our other cars is playing havok with my play time with my charger setup but I'm getting there slowly.. summer will mean hours of daylight more so I'm hoping to get things happening much more quickly then.

Any updates?

To combat the lack of belt exposure to the AC pulley, with a slight relocation of your manual tensioner you should be able to run non automatic tension by routing the belt as shown here:

You would need to swap out the pully with a non ribbed one and possibly lock it off somehow, what do you think?

same as mine but i kept auto tension with longer belt, belt grows with revs , small note ba idlers are wider for better contact at the back of the belt just before the charger

Thats not bad.. but I was going to wait and see if the belt slipped on the air con... I'm not sure it will at this point. (why create work for youself if you don't have to?)

I'm using the best from a Surburban diesel which fits nicely and I could just rig up another adjustable pulley down the bottom to increase the contact area.

At present I'm doing up an XR head I have here for the motor and going to do the usual guides and seals before putting the whole lot in.... Really though, I'm still waiting for the manual gb... once I have that the whole lot should happen quickly as most of the hard work is already done.

Yes you don't want any more work than necessary.

Looks like the V8 wrap around the AC is not that great anyway.

wow... that's nearly as bad as mine from the look of it.. that gives me much more confidence in the arrangement then... I wasn't that worried because if it slipped I'd just turn off the air con and fix it some other time, but after looking at that pick of yours, I'm thinking it's pretty unlikely that I have to worry about the air con slipping.

odd, I see them fine here.. is it just a problem in IE or is Firefox doing it too?

might be the way my php script resizes them but I've never seen it say file corrupt before.

While I'm here I may as well give an update...

I picked up a complete ED T5 with low km and complete kit including two nearly as new clutches, perfect cable etc etc for $600 from a man I'm fast beginning to think of as my fairy godmother. :-) Thanks Mr Steve.....

Also just grabbed one of Mr Fiends T5 shifters... though I don't have that one yet (just paid for it this morning)...

Now I have all the bits... The last thing I'm doing is to get the good engines XR head all fixed up and faced... and do the chain, guides, seals and gaskets and wack the lot in the car..

next free weekend I have, (possibly this coming one) I'll be ripping out the dash, putting in a clean tidy loom, a new dash that isn't painted black and a lovely manual pedal box (which I will need to reinforce while I'm there I guess.)
Then I have to work out where I wire the clutch switch into the cruise control.. I suppose I could bridge it to the brake switch? (or do I want it to drop out only when the clutch is on an come back automatically afterwards?)

anyway... the fun is getting very close to starting full on....

oh, need to find me a place in WA that sells M90 charger oil at a reasonable price as I've got a new coupler to put in and might as well put new oil in it at the same time...

Good times.....
