Could the old C4 auto be an option. There is a company making a bell housing to suit the 4.0L, aparently the C4 is very efficient and with a bit of work can handle good power.

They are good for under 500 h.p and cars under 3000 Lb The bigger trans is better... Its actually a bigger c4 anyway...

What about a glide? Once your starting to make that much torque a deficit of 1 gear wouldn't make that much difference would it?

down the 1/4

Its the BTR auto and if you had that much power I can assure you getting it altogether is NOT easy... We had two runs at last meet. It seems to be blowing through box at topend of strip. With GT42 size turbo there's some issues getting it spooled.. It could be fixed with pre- stage or anti lag in ecu.. I realy needs a trans brake which "can't" be fitted to BTR auto.. A poor mans Lenco [powerglide] or C9 would make it seconds quicker..
But remember it's only had two passes with this set up, it has 3000 rpm converter.
Its costing a fortune to run N20 and turbo with safety regs, including $1500 race suit, boots etc...Then there's the cage and trans shield...All has to be custom made!!!
It all has to be inspected by andra and he doesn't do house calls so it has to be trailored every inspecton... Plus the trans shield has to be inspected off car...

Obviously I'm going to talk to an expert over here to build me a custom converter but I'de like some opinions from you guys who have already been there and done that. My EF has a GT35/40R and is making about 380rwhp, but it seems to make torque quite low in the range and then fall off all the way to red line, even though is now has a 300deg cam. It doesn't make good boost until the cam comes on at 3000rpm, making about 3-4psi or so before that. At 3000rpm the boost hits (well cam really) and I make what ever the bleed has been set to almost instantly, so it goes from 3-4 to 16-17 almost straight away lighting up the tyres hard.

The car is driven on the street as well as taken to the drags.

So what I'de like to know is this....do you guys think the current stall is perhaps f$%^ed which is why the torque is falling off so badly - I would have thought that at 17psi and 8.5:1 compression I'de be making more power?? should I go for a 3000rpm stall??
how does a 3000rpm with lock up drive on the street??

I don't want to run anything shorter than 3.45 in the diff, and I have 3.08 atm. I'm leaning towards a 2800 stall as it will allow me to launch much better than now (it feels like it takes an age to get to boost, then wheelspins) but won't have me sitting on huge boost on the line and hence cause huge wheelspin.....but some expert opinion would be appreciated
