too much could be bad for many reasons,
My concern would be the pressure drop from free flowing oil.

I mean, it has to be restricted somehow,

not so much 'too much oil'
but too much oil pressure and a build up in the turbo can lead to the exhaust seals getting damaged.

Sheesh there is way seals can be damaged ..
There are reasons for oil leaking ..
The oil return line is restrictive, being too small or not straight direct to sump.. 15 mm is a good size .. The oil coming out of turbo is like whipped cream so it needs at least 150mm vertical drop before any angle..
Most ball bearing turbo's require a 1mm restrictor in oil line. Fits on turbo oil line coupling ..
Restrictors can be bought through gcg ..
The seal are ceramic discs and cannot be damages with excessive oil.. Well?? 1000 Lb probably would??
