well, the show was a good turnout, dont think any forum members were present??

met a guy from ff.au..

i made 335.8kw on 1 bar, the problem was the heat, the most intake temp ive ever seen in my car previously was 36deg, it normally sits 32-34... during my runs yesterday i was sitting a 56degrees!!!! it was HOT, and not good for power.. i really should have taken a water sprayer, but didnt think i would have so much trouble, it was dynoed with bonnet down which wouldnt have helped, you could burn your hand on my air filter

however my tuning worked wonders, ill upload graphs later, i plotted my new graph over my old one, and have gained 25kw between 2.5-5krpm... a LOT beefier midrange due to my now optimum A/F ratio.. my line is now very smooth, instead of all the lumpiness of my original graph...

nice to see such a tidy example with excellent results... it's cars like this i wanna throw in my friends faces who think falcons are nothing but slow pieces of crap and unboostable...

from what ive seen, they are the best responding, most boostable things around, and they have such a strong base engine... not many factory engines enjoy 300rwkw like a falcon 4l

well, my mate fritzz, i have all but hit further fuelling issues, during some more on road tuning i was doing on the weekend, i was logging everything and found my 72lb'ers going to 90% duty at 5600rpm, they hit 85% at 4800.... i have tweaked it up to 16.5psi now... one thing i have finally found an answer for, was after about 4800rpm my logged a/f ratio would get crazilly erratic.. it has been like that the whole time pretty much.. anyway, i just put it down to maybe a cheap meter, or overheating o2 sensor or something, i couldnt really explain it... (different to the leaning out issue i had with the 55's) anyway, with autronic wonderful injector time scale built into the datalog, i found that with my injector end angle set at 321deg, at 85% it was opening the injectors long enough to start injecting towards the end of the intake stroke, meaning, the cylinders would draw in all the fuel sitting in the ports, then just before the inlet started to close again, it would get another gut load of fuel, straight from the injector.... also, when the piston started to come back up with the valve open, it would be causing standoff within the trumpets.... BINGO, i moved my injector end angle to 360deg, so it started injecting 40deg later, which means that at even 90% duty, that is only happening at the last maybe 20deg of inlet valve open.... next log i did was SMOOTH.

so, there you have it, just goes to show what some of the effects of having undersized injectors can do, that is why the general rule is to size your injectors to not run over 85%... realistically, i need bigger ones, so that my opening time is considerably less than what it is now......

also, im only running it at 11.4-6:1 a/f, so its not like im trying to dump way too much fuel in or anything like that...

based on my current boost increase and fuel burn rate, Ray Hall (my injector supplier) suggests i must be making in the vacinity of 640HP at the flywheel, which means a gain of 50rwhp he says.. put simply, i should be making 360-370rwkw.

thats some good info.

so are u going to get bigger injectors or is this it???

i got the crane hi6 all wired up and running on the weekend, i did notice it gave me a fair bit more grunt all the way through the rev range but more so above 4500. seems to be a fair bit smoother also.

Hey again guys - good one sounds like it's going well. How is the gearbox holding up? I'm interested to see how long my T5 is going to last when I put together my new turbo bits and pieces that I have newly received. 8-) (Pic comming soon)

Also, are you still running on the stock pistons and rods? From what I've been reading they are pretty strong and seem to be ok for about 1 bar of boost and around 300rwkw - which is the maxium amout of power I'm going to want. Is this what you think ebs_4l? Otherwise if I'm commited to pulling the bottom of the engine apart then what do you recommend?

stock rods are STRONG.... i am yet to see any evidence of anyone ever breaking one, anyone know differently???? this includes MRD 460rwkw, jmm 444rwkw 6boost 412rwkw....

as for pistons, the i have acl race series, although the std ones are strong too, but id have doubts in going past 320kw with them, 300rwkw for the 4l seems to b a walk in the park...

glad you got the hi-6 working fritzz, i love mine, it is a really nice ign system, the only other one i would buy would be the autronic 500R, although it is $1000, it is the best you can buy... most powerful...

my mongrel t5 is still going, only because i havent given it any s**t in 3rd gear, well, it WAS a perfectly quiet box, until i had too take a couple of mates for a spin, and gave it ONE full throttle run through 3rd, right to the limiter, and guess what, now its started a small whine.... same as last time.. it'll get a bit noisier before it blows, but im going to hold back on it until i can get a gforce a*** organised... gotta pay my SNAP-ON account first... damn tools

well, fritzz, until you pull ya finger out and start winding up that t04z, and make some decent power, mine is going to stay how it is for now.... LOL

i have no plans at this stage on ANOTHER injector upgrade, hell, if i push it any further i'll be up for a friggin fuel pump upgrade too... that will start running out next... and im really not wanting to go through the whole re-tuning process with the bigger injectors again.... that sucks

P.S, i can predict right now that you will be in need of an injector upgrade before your done aswell, and you have already had one upgrade.... haha
