I have seen a black ed in a magazine with a 351 windsor, the power output wasnt anything special though(200bhp)

Yes but remember what i said about confusing peak hp figures with real performance?
That was a stock lightning engine; they make 240 SAE net hp so 200 rwhp is about right.
If you were to run it with a 5.0 making about 270rwhp it would kick your a***....that's real performance.

i gotta say im a little confused now as to if its worth it, from what ive read, for every one person who posts that they have done it and how its a great mod, and the 351 is a ball tearer, there are just as many people who post that its not worth it, and how a worked 302 will go just as well.....
does anyone on here have a DEFINATE answer as to the pro's and con's ?

Lets find out ur goals first then we can say if its worth it for you or not. Going 351 is going to cost you abit more thats sure.

So tell us what u want as hp goal and so on and then we can say yeh its worth it or not. Rule of thumb is that if u do the identical work to both engines say alloy heads and cam the 351 will cost more as u need a bigger head to suit cubes and u can also run bigger cam with ease and u will come up top with hp and torque and u also got the added bonus of a stronger block.

the xr8 is my daily driver, and the motor has seen better days, i drive ba/bf/fg xr8's at work all the time, and driving my xr8 afterwards makes me a sad panda...

so i just want a quick, fun, reliable car without going over the top on price ( after all, i dont want the engine to cost more than the whole car ! )
