Been looking at acl race series rebuild kits for my 5.0,
not sure if they come with all gaskets or just head gaskets?
and also the site says that the only pistons available are flat top.
Dont the standard pistons have valve cutouts in them?
Part number rac9302s
I would be running the standard cam with 1.72 rockers.
Has anyone used one of these kits before, or knows much about them?

Managed to speak to my engine builder and he said acl was ok but he preferred to use precision so i reckon ill stay away from acl.

ACL are okay, I have heard bad things about problems with the ringlands on their hyper stuff, not sure if this was limited to the i6 slugs I was looking at.

the same engine builder told me years ago not to get the acl kit for my 250 xflow because the pistons werent real flash, he also said they had problems with a holden 5 litre with the dodgy pistons in the kit.
I have used acl stuff in the past and had no problems, never bought a whole kit though.

Yeah, I used it when I built my mates i6 and it is still goin strong. I have seen their forged stuff and it looks good though.

I'm planning a new 351w at the moment, will probably use probe stuff if I can get it in the right size, as I think I will need 1.35 CH which is quite small.

Nothing is wrong with those ones as they are forged. Not sure if this is still the case but originally the forged ACL pistons were made in the US by Mahle. Since then I think either ACL bought Mahle or Mahle bought ACL so not sure if this has changed.

I was referring to ther hyper ACL pistons; when I used them for an i6 found a fair bit of bad feedback regarding weak ringlands and saw a pic where a crack had developed between the two compression rings. I used them though and as far as I know that engine is still going well after 30xxxkm :?
