It goes much harder than it did before and you can feel it push you in your back. Only problem is sometimes it doesn't take off in first without a cough and spluttler. It struggles for a second or 2, sometimes gives a pop then it's right and off she goes.

Does anyone else have problems like this or know what can be done in the tuning to make it better? I had it back at BPT the other day to show Terry and it wouldn't do it!!! Typical

Had a problem like this about a month ago, had to ease onto the throttle else it would cough and splutter. Removed MAF sensor, cleaned hot wires with white spirits(Very Carefully), and fitted sensor back up and was all sweet. You could see what looked like oil from my K&N filter had coated the hot wires causing them to give inaccurate readings.

Also scaffy is yours a 185kw model or does it still have the HO manifold?
Also is it manual or auto?

Cheers

I had a new maf fitted up with the rest of the gear so I wouldn't think that's the cause, but I will check it out anyhow. I'll try being easier on the throttle.

I was getting a bit frustrated with it earlier because on one side of the twEECer switch is the stock setting and the other is the performance setting. When switching between the two I was unable to tell the difference. I'm going to take it down to Kwinana on Wednesday and see if it makes a difference in times.

My engine is the poxy one with the HO manifold and it's manual.

I was thinking about getting an explorer but will be trying to get the Kenne Bell supercharger soon so there's no point

I wouldnt eliminate the maf from being the problem yet, im not saying it is but its definately worth cleaning as it costs nothing. How much was the maf? I bet it was just the maf housing that was changed and the electronics are your originals.

If you do not decide on supercharging it or if its gonna be a while before you do, i would definately consider fittin an explorer manifold, you can pick up quite cheap these days and i've seen a few around letely.

I reckon you should start another thread about your combo as this ones going a bit off topic.

yep, will do... as far as underdrives go, I guess I'm happy with them, just need to keep revs up at idle around town :D

Yeah, although will take a pretty long period of idling before switching engine off to be able to prevent from starting, like waiting in some of the fast food drive thrus around here for 20mins then being parked up in the waiting bay haha

But I can't imagine it's that great for the electrics running at a lower voltage than 12v

My radar detector beeps and tells me that voltage is low and my head unit reads low 11s when I leave my foot off the pedal at idle when aircon is going. Tested the head unit reading against a multimeter and it's pretty spot on

I would think it may eventually reduce the life of your battery. Just make sure you alternator is still healthy.
Any idea on exact idle speed yours is running?

one setting it is about 750rpm and the other is 900rpm.

I've got it switched to the 900rpm now cos I can't tell the difference between the two. It seems to be keeping the voltage up fine at those revs at this point in time

Whats with the two different different settings? I realise they would be from the twEECer, but what differences between the two?

One is meant to be stock and the other is meant to be tuned to 98 octane fuel, aka performance setting. After switching between the 2 to try and work out which was which I couldn't feel bugger all difference. They'd alternate as to which one felt like it had more power. It was really pissing me off.

I'm going to take it down the plex on Wed to see what the timeslip says between the 2.

Until then I'll stick with the 900rpm idle.
