what heads are you going to use?
and what is the max RPM you will use? |

With that intake you won't want a big stick in it. Besides with an AU you already have an Explorer intake which is better than that typhoon thing.
A crane 2031 or Comp XE258HR. Better still, send your vehicle specs to Comp cams and get a custom grind. Pete. |

This will probably be good reading for you (supports the RPM2 suggestion too). http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techar ... index.html
Strangely the links to the following pages (there are 7 in total) are overlapped by the description of the last image (the parts kit). If you are wanting a mild street friendly cam & a 6000rpm max, get one of the comp cams nitrous series. Wider lobe sep means a wider, flatter torque curve & valve timing events more suited to the longer stroke. The NX274HR would be my suggestion. You could consider it a mild version of the Comp Cams stroker series with less lift, duration & overlap. Really, it is nearly the same as the XE274HR in the above article, but will have even better street manners with a wider torque band & smoother idle. Similar to the XE274HR and about $200 cheaper, people have also had good results with idle, economy & up to 6000 rpm from the Trickflow stage 2. Your Edelbrock heads will be compatible with the NX274HR, XE274HR or Trickflow stage 2 as I believe they will come with valve spring able to handle lifts of up to 0.575" Good luck & keep us all up to date on how you go.

There are better cams than the B303 cam.. You need more lift...With better heads.....
The ramps on modern cam specs are far quicker these days...

Running 1.7 rockers will give you 0.510" lift with a b-303 cam ! What cams like that worth 2nd hand ? I remember buying a brand spanka ford alpha cam for about $500 many moons ago.

I've got a b-303 in a motor sitting in the garage. Hardly worth going to the trouble of pulling it out for the money I would get for it being a used one, hey ![]() That set up was stock (E7's and all) except had an edelbrock performer 5.0, genies, cats & zorst. I was definately very happy with that cam, the way the power came on as the revs went up. The idle note made many a man jealous.

what sort of money are you looking for for your old parts. tossing up at the moment whether to go late model heads (mine are ported e7's) or to go stroker. if i go stroker will i need new heads anyway? when you have them ready to sell be good if you could give me pm and i'l see where i'm at financially. might be able to take them off your hands.
