Gday,

There are clutch cables out there ranging in price from $50 to $150. Im wondering if an AU clutch cable will fit my EB 5litre? The gearbox end has the small circlip and the firewall end just has the snout with the thread and nut. The AU cables have a fancy plastic bit on the gearbox end(?)

Just curious, I could save myself $100.

I'm guessing the cable has stretched and letting the thrust bearing rest against the pressure plate (as I cannot get enough adjustment to eliminate this god awful squeal)

Thanks all for any speedy help!!

it wont be your cable, if anything a stretched cable would let the bearing sit off the pressure plate, but the thrust bearing is ment to rest against the pressure plate,
the spring on your clutch pedal actually pulles the cable slightly to hold the bearing against the pressure plate and hold slight tension on the cable..

a bearing squeel is a bad bearing, the bearing will need replacing before it kills your pressure plate...

mmmm interesting. Thankyou for your reply. I have recently had the clutch done, the company has now gone into liquidation and now I cannot get the guarantee they promised. Annoying!!

They left the boot off the bell housing aswell. Where the clutch fork comes out.

Seems I have to take the box out myself. Yay.

My clutch pedal does need the plastic bushes replaced on the pivot though.

Those little plastic bushes should still be available from ford, I bought some for my Xr8 not long ago. Pitty about the company that did the job, but it's not the hardest thing in the world to remove the box & swap a new thrust bearing onto the fork.

Cheers
