Just wondering what U.S car/engine got the cobra manifold? |

![]() When they say support up to 350hp, that would be engine hp right? Im using an explorer manifold on my motor but these are cheap enough new to be comparable to a secondhand explorer Thanks for the info Brett Cheers Milo |

As Brett said, Cobra's are plentiful in the U.S. as they were fitted to the Cobra Mustangs. I got mine second hand from NY.

Jeez...don't you guy's ever get a Ford racing catalog? As the guys have said the Cobra intake came from the '93 mustang cobra. The Sprint intake has slightly different upper with a removable EGR spacer whereas the Cobra intake does not. Not that it matters.
All the currently available ones(which are no longer made by Ford btw) use the explorer style lower which does not have the ACT sensor boss cast in the #5 runner, therefore they bore a hole in the side of the runner just below the parting line of the upper and lower....pretty f**k rough! Still, they go for about $329 brand new.....pretty cheap. |

Theres really f*** all between them in terms of flow and power made. Explorer are easy to get and cheap. id go for that. Cobra are more of 'exotic' thing and does flow slightly more then the explorer, and then gt40 is ridicously expensive for what it is. Only reason id go a gt40 is because it is about 4kg lighter then the other manifold. your choice. |

Just been looking at the cobra r mustang specs and i was interested to see they only made 235hp-175 kw.
I would have thought more but with a 14.5 quarter you cant complain i suppose, i guess they used the ho cam ![]() |

The GT40 family of intakes are capable of flowing more than 350fwhp, it just depends on your overall setup.

If you can't afford it why are you asking about it? Do you buy car magazines?
Note that '93 Cobra-R is a 5.0...the engine is the same as the base '93 Cobra, it's was all body and suspension work on the R model. The cam is different to the HO cam. |

I have every right to ask any question i dont know the answer to, how else do i find out? Should i not ask questions about performance parts unless i have the cash to buy them? Who makes these rules, you? |

You do have every right to ask questions and myself and others have given you answers.
I made a suggestion that you and others get hold of a Ford racing catalog for the information(including the very intake you asked questions about as it is a Ford racing part!). You chose to talk about not being able to afford anything so I gave an appropriate response. An appreciative response would have been "thanks I'll check it out" |
