Sounds like the TFI module on the dizzy mate, can be quite a common problem. Not sure what the price is from Ford but i run a BPT Motorsport one that sets ya back $215, lucky i didnt pay that much.
You might be able to talk a wrecker into selling you one ;)

Oh, and Welcome to the Forum!!! Enjoy your stay!! :D

This might sound silly. I had a problem with a EBxr8 a few years ago same sort of problem as you discibed. spent hours checking everything. It ended up being dirty battery terminals, they looked clean on outside but had a build up of corrosion on inside. It still had anough current to turn it over but would not fire.

I would be thinking along the lines of the computer for this drama. I had an EB GT doing the same thing and I thought the DFI module for sure. I replaced the module and still same problem. After some testing it traced back to the computer. After some calls I found out this happens on EB and ED V8's. Got the computer repaired and it runs like a dream again.

Firstly check you have spark?
Check you have fuel pressure?
and Do a self test.

It could be a number of things like;
TFI
Hall effect pickup
Coil
Fuel pump
Fuel pump relay
Main power relay
dirty battery terminals
dodgy block to body ground strap
dodgy MAF
EEC(but most unlikely)
wiring harness
