Guys,

Putting a v8 in my escort have finally managed to get ahold of a engine just wondering what gearbox's(auto and manual) would fit. someone told me that the I6 t5 box doesn't fit onto a v8.

Any suggestions??

Cheers

E series V8 BTR or V8 T5. Your could go C4 auto or Toploader.

Really depends on what your intentions for it are.

C4. Don't bother with a manual for a burnout car.

C4 will handle it a hell of a lot better than the BTR.

You will need a new bellhousing to fit the C4.

A V8 C4 already has the bellhousing to fit your 5.0. It'll have right hand starter position. If you use a pan fill, large bell C4 it will retain the larger 164t flexplate you already have from the BTR 4spd auto.

Dipstick tube goes into oil pan rather than the case.
All large bell(164T) C4's are pan fill. Large bell C4's flare out on the case to meet the bellhousing with it's own bolt circle.
Small Bell(157T) C4's are case fill and use the pump bolt circle to hold the bellhousing on.

You can't put a flare case bell on a non-flared case C4 and vise versa.
