for my next car im looking at a series 2 el xr8 manual. i could keep saving and get a ba/bf but i really want a new car now haha.

my question is what sort of power would i be expecting from the following mods, i know all cars are different but a ball park figure would be good.

extractors and full twin 2 1/4 inch system.
CAI with a k&n filter
explorer manifold, (what would be some better brands and types??)
gt40p heads.
underdrives
a bigger throttle body, say 70mm?
maybe also 3.45 diff gears, (not sure if all xr8s came with them or not??)

also if anyones out there with similar mods what sort of fuel economy are you getting? also how much have u paid for them?

thanks guys, forgive me im pretty new to v8s

thats not to shabby i guess. do those mods seem like a good starting point? anything ive missed out that should be done first like ignition systems or chips? maybe a cam a later stage but ive heard thats not as easy to change on a windsor compared to the sohc i6

Your better off with an au xr8 mate. There is plenty of them and will out handle the EL out of sight. Remember the EL chassis is of 1988 circa. The location of the starter/fan and fuel pump relays alone is enough to put me off buying one.

GO THE UGLY ONE :P !!!!!

haha yeahh performance wise yeah id have an au, but an el xr with full body kit lowered with nice rims pretty much destroys any thought of an au lol.
besides im not looking for a rediculas amount of power, it will be my daily, just want enough to sound nice and push me back in my seat a little

EL series 2 XR8 should already have the Explorer intake manifold, just get your hands on a set of GT40P heads (or aftermarket alloy/iron) some 1.7:1 roller rockers and the Crow 621371 camshaft. Put together correctly and with some portwork, shaved heads and a flash tune/Tweecer you'll have over 180kw at the tyres.

how much would a set of gt40p heads and a stage 2 or 3 crow cam cost installed?

wild_ef click on the link in my sig. I've got an EL XR8 185kw.

Puts out 196rwkw. GT40P heads
Under drives
70mm throttle body
75mm MAF
24lb injectors
port matching
1.7 roller rockers
AU XR8 220 cam.
3" cat back exhaust.

EL 2 XR8's came with the 3.45 diff

I get 550-600ks per tank running on Ultimate 98 and custome tuned using the Capa switch chip eliminator.

I get 500-515kms before the red light comes on. Good economy for a V8.

Under drives. GT40P heads with roller rockers and custom tune.

That would see 4 grand go if you get an engine builder/engine tuner.

I've got a price list in my thread too of all the parts and labour costs.

I get 630 km on the highway and 430km around town. I drive the car very hard and race people at every opportunity LOL. The trip meter shows 14.8L average.
The car has so far ran a best of 14.4 at 98mph with a 2.2 60ft at heathcote on street tyres. Will hit 100mph at Calder and hopefully a 14.1-14.2.
