what date did the EL XR8's come out with the 185kw motor?

I have a december 97 EL XR8... how do I know if its a series 2 or not?

I have a feeling its a series 1 but just first registered in december.

in engine bay, look at the 8 tubes of the intake manifold.. as they head down in the valley, if they're staggered(one a bit to the lift, the next a bit right) you have a series 2.. if they're all inline with each other you got a series 1.

or look for the ratio tag under the cars diff..
3.45 diff = series 2
3.23?= series 1

and i think that they came out with the 16" wheels stock at that point too.
