hi,
just wanted help regarding what size exhaust i should have/get on my ute. Its a 351 cleveland on straight gas, its got dual pipes exiting either side at the back,with an X pipe. Just wanted to see what size pipe people have or recommend to get for overall performance (2 1/4 inch, 2 1/2inch?), cheers

my brothers xd ute with a solid 351, c4 and 2500rpm stall and 3.5 nine inch has 2 and 1/2 inch dumpers over the diff. She sounds sweet and goes pretty hard too.

if stock or a very mild cam? 2 1/4" is plenty. once you start getting up in the mods and cam size 220+ deg @ 50 then a 2 1/2" system wouldn't hurt.
My close enough to 600hp 393 only runs a 2 1/2" system if that gives you some idea.

thanks for the help guys, its only pretty stock so i think il go with 2 1/4inch,at the moment it has a 2inch system, is it worth while to upgrade it to a 2 1/4?

If it's staying pretty stock? I wouldn't bother. You would see a power increase but if mods aren't sufficient? It'll drone and annoy the hell out of you. If you want a better note with the current system? Change the mufflers to some sort of sports muffler.

I've only got a twin 2 1/4 with balance pipe and that is plenty for my mild 351 Coupe. Any bigger and you probably loose too much low end power which is what you need for the street.

yeh na thats what i was thinking. Im getting it tuned and dyno'd so il see how it goes. It sounds mad but i thought it may have been restricted, but by da sounds of it it should b alrite how it is,as mrfordfalcon said low end torques what ya need for street,cheers
