I have a 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX Limited Edition with the following mods:

Engine-2002 Mustang GT 4.6 PI engine
Underdrive pulley kit
Larger GT Mass Air flow sensor
K/N Cold Air Kit
E3 Plugs/ 8.5 mm wires
Throttle and plenum spacers
Trac-loc
3.73 Gears
2 freeflow cats with straight 2" exhaust

This Thunderbird is pretty fast, and it has killed GT's, 350Z's, and walked with stock TA's and Z28s. My problem is the speed limiter, I tried to get a tune, buy a tuner, void sensors... everything I could think of. No luck yet, my car tops out at 105mph with the speed limiter. This car gets there quick and is capable of 150mph, if I can just get rid of the speed limiter. Anyone know how? :?: :?: :?:

Find the VSS input of the ecu and cut it?

I don't know if it would be the same as my car, but when I changed the diff ratio, the speed limiter cut in when the speedo read 180, but it was actually doing 150, which is a problem when I wanted to run the 1/4. In cutting the wire at pin 58 (this may not be the same for your car), it disabled the speed limiter, however it also effected dashpot, I think it is, and when slowing to a stop it wouldn't hold idle and stall. This was only a temporary solution until I got the speedo sorted.

I am not convinced that I should cut a wire...again. The other thunderbird went salvage because I cut some wires already trying to disable the speed limiter. I cut mine under the middle console were the wires go to the tranny though. The wire you are talking about is right before the ecu? And your car, what is that a focus? I looked at the pics but the engine vs. the body got me wondering what is that?

Sorry no offense meant. Don't get me wrong, that must be a bada$$ ride with its setup. I honestly did not know, never seen one before.
