with rego dont quote me but i think you will have to get a statement of requirments from transport sa then present the vehicle for a full inspection, this is because the ea never was released with v8.
i have a v8 in my xg 2 different guys at transport sa gave 2 different lots of advise. 1 said just register with the v8 number all done 2 the other said statement of requirment then inspection after leaving details with the guys i ended up with a statment of requirments in my hands 3 months after guy number 1 put my engine details onto my rego. dont know what i am going to do yet will probably get it inspected as i dont want any issues with insurance. on the statement it claims they give you some certificate of compliance so who knows? will let you know once i take it down. |

. hopefully you have some plans for it as far as heads and manifold go as the ones on there are only good anchoring a boat. don't be surprised if you fire it up and find it has barely any more poke than the 6 that came out of the car. sounds like you know what you're doing though.

Have quite a few ideas mate.
ever visited http://www.turbomustangs.com/ that might give you some idea as to the next step for this car. ![]() Its nearly done, just a few issues with wiring then it should be up and running. Yeah heats been a b**ch, lost 7kgs last week alone.... 12Kgs all up, who needs a gym just do an engine swap during a heat wave. Will post a video of it running when i get it sorted. |

You certainly made it hard for yourself....if you just used a V8 K-member from an EB-ED it would have just fallen in.
I'd use a 2 1/2" twin with either an H or an X pipe but that's only if you're going to modify the engine. Otherwise a 2 1/2" single on a stock engine. Of course this is probably moot if you're going to use a turbo? |

Yep....2nd the above comment....
A v8 K frame would have made life a hell of a lot easier..... Hope your welding on the engine mounts passes inspection.. I know of one bloke here in WA that get rejected over the pits with bad welding when he tried to rego exactly the same project...... Great conversion tho mate, and with the windsors now so cheap, you have to ask.... why not?? 35 degrees would have been a killer tho!!

Very nice conversion.
I wanted to swap out my 3.9 for a 5L but i couldnt find a V8 T5+bellhousing... Very well done though, hope it all works out for you. Cheers David

Well finally got it to run, with a few more taps into the loom
Loud as hell off the extractors though So exhaust this week. Hardwired the fuel pump, atm to get it running. and a starter button relay setup to fire it up. ![]() Will organise the rest later stopping for today. |

So are the 6 and V8 BTR's the same apart from the bellhousing? That might make the swap into the EL that much nicer!

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

Well from my experience EVL098, apart from the bell housing which is an easy swap the 6's input shaft is identical. Had to move the Transmission and cross member forward to the front hole on the Chassis.
Oh and as i moved the trans forward i had to make a custom shift linkage but thats it. Might Require a longer tailshaft still, but thats about the only difference i can pick. And to change the bell housing it is only 4 bolts on the transmission side. Ratios may be different inside the transmission, and the V8 one may have tougher internals, my transmission is modified though so the internals wont be an issue. |

The V8 version has tougher internals. I had a Ford training manual that spelt out all the differences. It even said in bold lettering "Even though the internals look the same they are not". I wish I could find the damn book now because there were alot of differences in materials.
So has anyone actually fitted a V8 bell to a six cyl trans and just bolted it up? |
