Righto it looks like possible the supercharger is going to be out of my reach. $12k a little too much. So I'll spend less elsewhere.
Exhaust system me thinks. My engine puts out probably 230kw-240kw at the flywheel and I got 196rwkw. I've got GT40P heads. Current exhaust setup is ELGT headers with stock cats, single 3" system. Now money not being an option what is the best system to give more power/torque. Sound is not as important as more power/torque. Also will I have to get a new custom tune or will I get the benefit with the tune alread on it? I'm running a CAPA Switch Chip Eliminator. From exhaust port on heads to the tip at the back what should I be getting to give more power? |

A good set of headers, Pacemakers, difillipo's or an Advacnce header. Im sure Difillipo makes a 4 into 1 so I'd be looking at that route.
A twin 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 inch from there should finish it off. A set of high flow cats and straight throu muffler, no rear resonator would be the go in my opinion. Ya never know though, a blower would be a nice edition too, in the form of a vortech.

I think supercharger is off the cards Jason.
What brand cats/mufflers? I want good stuff that gives the power. Not fussed on sound or loudness as its secondary for finding the power. I want to achieve the toughest all Ford equipped engine. Do I get a X-pipe with a twin system? Do I get 2¼" or 2½"? Not sure what size cause my car is modified. |

My defillipo's ended up costing me 1495 for the 4 into 1 3 in collector, 1 3/4 primaries with ceramic coating delivered to my door. They are awesome and the car now has a deep growl to it.
I also had fitted at the time 3in inlet and outlet cats and custom 3 in y pipe. It then finishes into a 5 in collector for the remaining 3 in system./ Sounds nice and deep but roars like a V8 supercar. I did need a complet retune when it was done as the car was very very lean Brett

What heads you running TerroristGHIA?
I would need headers to suit E series with GT40Ps on it. Pacemaker don't make em. It specifcally says not for GT40s as fitted to AUII V8s on their website under the EB - EL section. Will AU headers fit? |

Will AU headers fit? are pacemaker saying that because of the tight fit with plugs and leads? would have thaught a set of pacies to suit e7s would bolt up to 40ps if the elgt headers bolt up to 40ps

For low down torque 4>2>1s are better. 4 to 1s are for higher end power. That's what the GT extractors are.

Linkage http://www.pacemaker.com.au/ford_falcon_v8_eb-au.html the plug angle that they seem to think is such a huge problem will be no worse than what you have now as you already have extractors to suit e7 heads bolted to gt40p heads. im guessing that you already have a set of leads with 90 degree boots? so a set of pacies to suit e7 heads shouldnt be a problem.

Tri-Y headers would definately suit you better though. Give you great mid-range which is were you engine combo excels.
I think you would get away with Pacemaker Tri-Y's with some custom MSD leads from Dave to suit. If not the Advance headers that Jason said would be a good idea, they are a Tri-Y design and would give no issue with plug clearance etc. Cats, i'd definately have to say go with a pair of s/steel X-force items like i have on my ute. Very little restriction to flow (750cfm IIRC) and are a very nice bit of gear. Twin 2 1/4" is definately where you want to be as far as pipes go. All mandrel bent and s/steel. One muffler each pipe and no resonators. I run Hooker mufflers which give it a very distinct note. Some people dont like it as it doesnt give that "deep" V8 grumble. Gives much more of a hard revving "american" engine sound. If you like a nice deep rumble go for a pair of Lukey brand mufflers. The hookers claim to give the best flow and performance so if thats what your after Pete then i'd definately go with them. 2 1/4" would be your optimum pipe size, as you can see its easily capable of supplying 320rwhp, so it definately wont be a restriction. IMO its the best size to sompliment the low-midrange torque of the windsor also. Come drive the ute Pete and let your right foot be the verdict ![]()

What is your budget at the moment?
Reason i ask is that u could do so much with 10grand for example and you would want to do things once and do it properly. If i were you i would go 2.5 in dual all the way through either use x force or magnaflow hi flow stainless steal cats with X pipe and 2 stainless steal magnaflow mufflers at the diff, then 2.5 inch over the diff and merge to a 3inch pipe and you could use whatever you want at the rear. I was going to do that on my 400hp 347 stroker EFXR8 which is a proven setup by Chris at best mufflers N.S.W Sydney but i was gona go 3inch all the way through with a 3.5inch merge.

I am running Sportsman heads, 2.08 intake and 1.6 exhaust, rated to 550hp. Since fitment and a sock on No4 lead, i have had no trouble with melted leads. Call difillipo direct, or a WA agent. I actually find mine through a commodore specialist, as difillipo dont have a NSW agent.

Thanks for the replys guys.
I think Jeffs got it sussed. I'd get the pacies ceramic coated and a full stainless system. Any WA members recommend Prestige Exhausts for the complete job? I hear Dom there is a wizard. Either them or APC? But aren't APC a bit over priced and also what about Mindarie Custom Exhaust? Might even get rid of that resonator for the intake between the MAF and TB and get a stainless mandrel bent like most of you guys have. |

Pete, i tell you what mate i wouldnt let the ute go to anyone else for any form of intake or exhaust pipework. Dom at Prestige Exhausts is your man. I dont wear a huge PINK sticker on my front window for nothing. Tell him Jeff with the blue XH XR8 ute sent ya.
Just make sure you get twin 2 1/4" all the way through to the bumper. I cant see Dom saying it cant be done around the spare wheel well, he should know its possible. He's pretty good with his mandrel bends. Oh and ceramic coated Pacies are the go, would love some on the ute, can get them direct from Pacemaker ceramic coated. Intake pipe wont be a drama, just tell him you want one like Jeffs. Its just one single 60 degree mandrel bend then cut down to suit.

Sounds like you are going to go for the exact same system as I had. I have got some crappy phone pics for you to have a look at if you want. Wish I didn't have to sell this car.
