The only difference between a stock cap and the MSD cap is that the MSD cap is red, and has that thing on top to hold the plug leads and coil lead in. Heres a picture of the stock dizzy with an MSD cap fitted. 
Was $23.70US from Summit, + postage. It is really only a looks thing, only possible benefit is the hold down thingo, stop dodgy leads popping off and causing a bad connection.

^^^^ i concur. And for the record, i do not recommend the MSD Billet Dizzy for EFI 5.0's. I had nothing but trouble with mine and was glad to be rid of it. It was rebuilt 3 times under warranty

This afternoon i got the MSD dizzy and new rotor button. Took 5 mins to change over, I tell u what either my dizzy was past its used by date or this has made my car a little more pick up and go.
Cost $30.25 for cap +$10 button. Thats some cheap good looking mods
