New EL2 XR8 Exhaust. Keep The ELGT Extractors?

4-1's aren't the best idea for 5L engines IMO unless you plan on reving it well over 6000rpm. Tri-y designs have shown to produce more torque across the idle-6000rpm range, exactly what you want for a street car. I know a few people who have gone from difilipo's to pacies or similar designs and loved the improvement.

nah theres dudes on here with the pacey 4-1s on e series.. as far as i know them and the difis are the only 4-1s available for e series..

Yeah that's what i've read on here and as I rarely rev my car over 5 and a half grand I'm gonna stick with the PH4000s. Thanks guys.

Pacemaker droped their 4-1 e-series range a year or two ago.

mneh.. yeh maybe, but i like the note, i like being different, and once i get a 400hp stroker motor spinnin to 5800, then it'l probably justify the phat pipes quite nicely..

i dont suppose theres a dyno comparo floatin around showing exactly what difference each one makes?

Just had a quick look at my current extractors. They are 4 into 1 and with a tape measure and just an eye (no vernier callipres) they look to be about 40mm. The pacies have 41mm primaries, maybe there isn't that much difference after all. I hate not knowing what the best thing to do is. Maybe I might just get the pacies but keep the gt extractors in the shed just in case.

Primary size is only one part of it. The EL GT/XR headers are short 4-1's and may not be mandrel bent (can't remember). The design of the pacemakers are totally different and produce more torque over more of the powerband. IMO they are worth changing, especially if you plan on doing further mods later down the track. Also shop around for them, I have had quotes anywhere from $490-$950 for the same PH4000's.

Thanks for the advice, do you know of / have any contact details of any decent exhaust places in adelaide that do mandrel bending etc its just that I'm not sure whether the local guys here can do the quality work that I want as their resources would be limited. And also do you recommend any particular brands of high flow cats / mufflers? Sorry for all the questions.

The guys at Aussie Discount Mufflers on the crn of Port and South Roads seem to know what they are doing and have very good prices on exhaust systems and pacemakers last time i checked. With cats I like the US brand magnaflow, they also make some really nice sounding and performing mufflers but aren't the cheapest brand around. Supercats, redback and lukey are other brands to look at and are probably a fair bit cheaper than magnaflow.

I put Pacey try's with twin 2.25" exhaust to 3" at diff, two magna flow resinators and 3" inlet to twin 2.5" outlet magnaflow muffler to my AUIII SLX 5Ltr in 2002 at Exhaust technologies on Goodwood rd at the underpass. Job cost me $1275 all mandrel bent mild steel with stainless mufflers. this was 4 years ago and still going strong on 200kw+ winger.
