Ok Ive just installed my electric dissy in my 351 Clevo (lpg only) Put elec coil in aswell, but she wont kick over. I have spark and the engine turns but wont start. What have I overlooked or done wrong? I wound motor to btc and installed dissy so that rotor is pointing to number 1 lead stalk as per my book says. Does this sound like ive done it right?....Anyway Ive got to wait a little now cause Ive flattened my battery (shes ticking!)
So if anyone can offer help , Id appreciate it!

not sure if you installed dizzy right
sounds like you might be 180deg off take number 1 spark plug out and stick your finger in hole, turn motor over by hand until you feel pressure coming out, this is your compression stroke, get a suitable sized screwdriver and put into hole so you can feel where the piston is again turning motor by hand until you find where the piston tops out, this is TDC for your motor, install dizzy with rotor facing no 1 pointer and you'll be off and running

All good now
 Now I need to fit my 425 mixer and get it tuned!

A timing question. Normal timing is at 6 degrees . Should I advance much past this?, and if so by how much do u reckon?

What is the dizzy out of?
Has it been curved to suit lpg? It all comes down to the setup of the dizzy, but lpg is only meant to have a total of 30 deg advance. Is it running vacuum advance aswell? |

Well had my new dissy in for a few days now and evrything has been good till today. i went for a drive and below 2500rpm the acceleration is "stuttering" and hesitant. Once i get above that it runs nice. Timing is still the same so what could be the problem? Could I have got some water somewhere when i degreased the engine? I thought it might have been this but I drove for a few hours and the problem didnt go away.
Any suggestions?

So you degreased it today?
As it heats up the water will rise up into the cap, get the compressor and blow the dizzy out. |

Ok I will but I did take the cap off but couldnt see any moisture.

Do all your electrical connections and plug leads too.
Just a suggestion seeing as it started running s**t after washing it, has happened to me plenty of times. Could try a bit of WD or CRC aswell. |

.............Yeah its happened to me before, but usually after about half hour driving it would be ok. Got some WD hnady so I'll give it a hit.

Went for a drive this morning and no problems! Then..... drove in the arvo and the stuttering is back below 2400rpm
Sometimes it would do it and then it was ok. Any ideas?

Make sure all is good inside the dizzy,that thing with the slots in it can ride up a bit,make sure its in the centre of that pick up ,screws are tight,might only rub a bit at differt't revs

my carby makes mine do similar symptoms as yours does samsy.
