This here is pretty much what mine sounds like, although my magnapacks are the 6" round version so have a deeper note and not as much crackle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9jQ1qregk4
I went 2.5" dual with a 6" round Magnapack on each side, no cats, 4-1 headers. Sounds like god is having sex and makes baby jesus cry. Should sound even better soon when the new heads and cam go on. |

All you need to make your EB sound like the main street of Toowoomba in the 1970's is remove the mufflers all together and install 2 x hotdogs in each exhaust pipe(after the cat's of course...)but don't know how you will go bending the passenger pipe to the back - if you really want the classic twin exit look. 2.25in pipes will give you that classic "blaaattt" when you use your right foot. The cat will silence this quite a lot(remember when we didn't have to use them!!)but a high flow item might give you a bit more resonance in the tailpipe.
Toowoomba apparently had the best quarter mile in Australia racing up Ruthven Street between Russell and Herries Street - was a hoot when you were a kid window shopping in the evening with your parents. Why isnt life like that anymore - it was all about respect for each others rides and long hair and tee shirts...ahhh the fog of remeniscing... ![]() Classic sound and nothing like it in full song...the noise nazis will love you though. |

old school v8 generally had small dia pipes like 2in and chambered mufflers and no balance pipe, I did dual 2.25in on my AU XR8 without a balance pipe with 1x hotdog each side and it sounded very oldschool, but a bit flappy at high revs, {DESCRIPTION}
I then fitted a cam then it sounded very nice but still flappy so now i got redback megaflows 1 per side and a balance pipe and its smoother now but looses volume high in the rev range for some reason. sounds more like a modern v8. next i'm going for a big single with an uneven merge pipe length to give it a burble (like the way subaru's get that lumpy sound) similar sound to my old EB turbo v8 {DESCRIPTION} i remember back when i had my 350 chev in a HQ I got a different note with changes of carbys, eg. a quadrajet, 450 holley sq & 650 holley DP. the 650 DP sounded the best and i don't know why, so to get the best sound I think you need not only exhaust but heads and intake mods also |
