As schnoods said, I did a 14.9 with underdrives, maf, exhaust and tune. I definately wouldn't suggest it's the fastest though. I reckon another half a second could have been wiped off with a change of gears, larger tb and better, harder launches.

I think Jaysen had run a pretty good time with his motor in stock guise, although I don't remember where I read that or what the time was.

14.89, but it had an unported explorer manifold, set of GT extractors and I think I had the roller rockers on at that stage too, and underdrives

'Unopened' by the LS1 community means NO internal engine mods and no intake manifold change. People do however classify headers, T/Bs, underdrives etc as 'bolt-on' mods and fall under the 'unopened' banner.

Tunes are allowed.

I think perhaps a better or more relevant question would be who has the fastest 'stock parts' HO? IE factory heads, manifold, block, rods OEM spec pistons etc.... Including stock camshaft 'profile' ;)

I think unopened speaks for itself. This isnt a glory hunt okay? I reckon anyone who is chasing `13 second streeter` status is kidding themselves with an `unopened` 5.0L EB/EL Falcon. Theyre bloody shocking stock. Nitrous is cheating and as for `gutting it` well it isnt much of a streeter if its only your seat in it. If you want it to boogie you have to `open it`. Fact is the 5.0L is a detuned,de-compressed,restricted, reliable, quiet unit designed to last a VERY long time. Its a very grey area to have a `stock motor` but there isnt an easy way to get it to really go.We all know the result when we `open it up` dont we.That means pullin off the heads okay? Ya just dont need to with a LS1. You have to if youve got a 5.0L. Theyre forty years old for chrissakes. :!: :!:

I wouldn't say nitrous is cheating, just a different ball game!

Stock to me is

-stock tune
-using existing engine componentry (can be moddified and the exhaust is an exception)
-No stalls, diff gears etc

As I've said many time before if the AU would lose 150kg (XH/E series weight) my 180rwkw would look alot better. I'm not worried about the 400m time anymore, especialy when I'm running 98.5 mph at HEATHCOTE in 20 degree weather.
I'll hit 100MPH in the coming weeks (pending a cold night). Who says you can't match a factory 342 with a 5.0L

stock to me is stock including direct replacement parts (i dunno if this is what you are saying).....modified from original (even if using 'stock' parts off another model) is not stock, as is using a different tune from a different model

lol...but what is unopened is a can of worms....who is to say changing cams isn't unopened (ie cylinder heads arent removed and engine isnt opened, same with changing of manifolds)..

in the end i don't see the point of contesting it as opened/unopened/modified, rather it should be critiqued on what the purpose of the build was i.e. i think i remember t2te50's build was about maintaining stock mannerisms and fuel consumption whilst getting more power which i think it achieved

if going for quarter miles i dont really see the point in modifying an 'unopened' engine so you can say you have the fastest unopened...unless there's monetary reasons or something, but even this is contestable as usually people spend not too much less on a rebuild with new 'stock' parts than what they would on ones that would dramatically improve performance

hehe my input...i wont even own a v8 for another month yet (until i buy this mint ghia up the road from me  )

You are an idiot, we are talking about a stock ho motor and then you start wanking on about stalls and gears and your poxy au.
Dude noone gives a s**t, especially me who's post this is.
If you want to start another post about your au then go ahead and keep the s**t out of mine.
Keep on topic thanks.
