hey guys, my EF is spitting a bit of fluid out of the exhaust... not too much but enough to make me cry, adn my coolant level light keeps coming on and thats scaring me too. Check coolant levels and it didnt look too bad so i thought it might be sensor, but now the s**t coming out of the exhaust makes me think head gasket... but its not overheating at all. I just had new radiator and water pump put in so they shoul be sound. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks Lads. sorry for the essay!

if you keep topping up your coolent levels and theres fluid coming out your exhaust. it sounds like a pretty bad head gasket failure.

remove your oil cap and see if there is any creamy s**t on there

also remove the dip stick and again check for creamy s**t

mine was $700 but that included a bit of machining and such, you could get out of it as cheap as $200 or it could run up to a grand (depends on what alse is rooted when they pull it apart)

Don't Stress until you check everything. My thoughts (and I could be wrong) Coolant float starting to fill with coolant which inturn triggers little red light to flash which triggers PANIC button and all of a sudden you become more observant of things such as condensation coming from the exhaust. As I said I could be wrong but lets hope I am not.

Good luck

bugger that just organise a head gasket day.. buy a head gasket, a carton of beers, advertise on here to get some boys over to your house, if you got tools all the better, if you don't bonus carton to the 1 guy who brings the gear you need.. dunno what a head gasket is worth, but someone can hook you up with a cheapie I'm sure.

total cost

head gasket $xxx.xx
2 cartons of beer $60.00 (dont supply cheap s**t)
knowledge gained $priceless.

just relax its fixable.

unless you want to do your headgasket again in 6months time then DO NOT buy cheap materials. and for god sake stay away from cork gaskets found on ebay or any other fool that trys to sell them to you

He's got a V8 guys. Its not one head gasket to buy and there's more disassembling than the I6.

I was thinking the same thing Vic, however its pretty easy to rip all the top end off a V8 if you know where to go. Between Drone and I, I think we could have a full intake off in under 30 minutes.

Also for consideration is the fact that the head problems that plague the I6's is not an issue for Windsor V8's.
( other than the odd one like in this thread where it's the exception and not the rule ) :)
The head gaskets that V8's use is not a prickly issue in terms of quality and reliabilty, like for the I6's.
Fel Pro is your friend!

I had a similar problem when my lower manifold gasket was no good. Water from the water jackets went into the ports which caused it to come out of the exhaust.

I think my head gasket is on the way out too but i'm making use of the heads of and replacing them with GT40P's which is definately worth it if you can afford it or stretch the budget.

The Fel Pro gaskets come in a kit which will be a couple of hundred dollars
