Sounds good,is it as easy as a crossmember swap,or do i have to cut and weld some new mounts in? i sorta don't want the car off the road for too long!

Keep a close eye on Petes (XR9UTE) thread in here about dropping the 5.0L into his XG. There will be some good information for you in there, although im pretty sure the steering/suspension set-up between XG and XH is different but it shouldnt be too much drama.

Im going to be really interested in this thread too, i have big plans (more like dreams) for an XH 5.0L Panelvan.

I've done 5.0L 4spd auto into an XG, XH will be a lot easier.. have a few shots in my gallery.

Nope XH is much easier. You just need V8 mounts because EF-up and XH have the same k-member on 6 and 8. You won't have header hassles either. Did an AU220 engine into an XH many years ago running the AU EECV too. Easy.

Welcome to the forums,

As mentioned by several ppl above, its a straight forward swap.

It might be worth getting a donor car, or hunt the wreckers for a low km engine/trans. EL2 onwards would be preferable, AU3 220kw even better!

Massive thread mine, but question on the wiring loom change.

How hard is it to graft an EL V8 sedan loom into the ute? Or what's the easiest loom to put in the XH? Manual so don't need a loom with TCM.

EL harness is not difficult to do. Btw I’m about to do a BA pcm into an XH running a 393/BTR. That’s more effort.

Do i just have to loop the rear door wires and things like that? Mechanical side of things im sorted, trying to get my head around the wiring.

I was talking about splicing the engine related harnessing into the XH harness. What you’re talking about is probably easier.

Is it possible to splice the v8 engine harness into the existing XH loom along the engine bay firewall? Definitely appreciate the guidance.

You do it in the dashboard harness. The main one being the rectangular white connector near the A/C box behind the glove box.

So what you're saying is, I can use my existing v8 injector loom and graft it into the XH i6 dash loom, plug in an EL V8 ECU and that's the wiring done? Sounds too easy....

Been trying to sell the LTD, but hasn't had any interest so the ute may end up with the 302 and T5 after all...
