no problems at all. very happy with it (and the price for it!) loads more noise for nothing. the filter will make a big difference when i get that too. the front hole i may have been a bit over zelous with, but it doesn't matter. and if i dont want it anymore, a bit of race tape and aroldite and tape the hole closed again. and once again, no cost. el1, if you do it let us know how it goes cause i'd be interested to see if it goes better.

Very nice idea fiftyone.
Can anyone tell me a downside to this mod?

ull have holes in ur air box :P nah....besides fittyone getting water in there i don't think there is a downside. if ur worried about getting water in tehre im sure u can glue some fly screen on it........that way it could stop some water or moisture coming in. might do this when i can be bothered getting off my a**.

i would just like to say before everyone goes chopping up their airboxs this weekend. It MAY NOT work for all. just make sure you take it for a drive first and check that cool pocket of air i refer to is actually there or you'll be putting yourself behind the 8 ball straight out. as well, on hot days in traffic your engine bay WILL heat soak, it will most likely add to overall engine heat and increased fuel consumption in slow city driving. but not a problem for me as the only roads i frequent have a 80 limit. you WILL notice a great engine note over 2700 revs tho!

cut some holes in the side of my airbox tonight, dont know if the car goes any better, i dont feel anything, but it definately sounds better, the exhaust has a much deeper note from 2500rpm (coming onto the cam) onwards. And a bit more induction noise :D
