The EL XR6 3.45:1 LSD is the best upgrade I've done so far.

no, the 3.08 housing is too small.

And get yourself a black 23-tooth speedo sender gear, that'll fix up the speedo.

Oh, and the reduction in top speed will still mean it's above the speed limiter anyway, so it won't affect many people.

you can put 3.45:1 gears in the 3.08:1 housing.

you just can't put gears from the wrong serries of housing in. gears from an EL will not fit an EB.
EFs had both serries of housing so you need to be carefull with them

ive heard lots of can/cannot stories here, but no definate ones! have you done it before? the workshop manual says crownwheels are different diameters?

either way a LSD would be nice.. EF2 fairmonts had a 3.08 yes?

only different by a small amount.. you can't expect to just drop them in with out re-shimming, but thats why the shims are there.
Call mal wood and chat with him about it.

I've heard so many differing stories that it will or it won't, I just recommend people do a disc to disc swap.

A full disc to disc swap is going to de less time consumming and there will be no guess work just swap the lot and spend more time enjoying. Only sugestion is replace the wheel bearings.
