Not sure if im in the right section. On Friday i was driving the car with the air con on (im one of the blokes who ALWAYS has the air con on)... all of a sudden i realised that it was warm. i checked the air con panel everything was still ok except there was no cold air coming out of the vents!

now im thinking that the compressor crapped itself, my understanding is that if its gas then it would have gradually stopped going cool. But this thing just stopped all of a sudden.

its an EBII by the way and let me say that the air con on this thing was truely one of the best i have had on all my cars before this issue happened.

Suggestions??

Sounds possible on my EB my aircon would work for so long before it cuts out then after a while turned off it would work again and do the same thing. There is a thermal switch on the side of the compressor and if its low on gas the compressor cuts out as its getting too hot and works again once the thermal switch resets. I ended up buying another 2nd hand compressor of Troyman as they are too expnsive to rebuild and too expensive new. Problem ok now.

Thanks for that info. Would an EF/EL 6 cyl compressor fit an EB/ED. What about a V8 compressor?

Thanks,

the ef /el compressor cant be used on the std eb belt set up, as the eb pump sits about 1/2" further forward compared to ef and eb is a 5 rib belt and ef is 6 rib belt,

Sounds like you're low on refrigerant and have just gone below the low pressure cut-off switching point. Temprorarily bridge the low pressure switch contacts and if you have a/c going again, it confirms you were low on refrigerant. DO NOT continue to operate the a/c in this way until it is refilled with refrigerant, otherwise the repair bill will be huge. If the compressor fails, the whole system needs to be flushed out to remove any metal particals, and this is expensive on top of a new pump.

Sorry but parts off a V8 can not be used on a 6 cyl even if it is out of an EB as they are different

Doesn't the EA-ED comes with multi belts?
If so, check to see if you still have a drive belt on the compressor pulley!
