I'm trying to find out what the exact taper of the EF/EL ball joints is but I am not succeeding.

Does anyone here know what it is?
Along with the small end diameter and big end diameter.

Cheers.

*EDIT* If anyone has a stuffed one on its whay to the bin, I'll grab it and take the measurements myself.

It's for another project, I just need to know the angle of the upper balljoint taper.
I need to buy a reamer for the taper so I need to get the right one.
I think I did some research a while ago and found it was 7 degrees, but now I can't find that information again, and I'm not 100% sure if I was just guessing.

Well, when I get a chance, I'll put the digital vernier on them, and then you can use your trigonometry skills.

That'd be awesome.
Also if you could get the thickness of the upper arm where the taper fits in to.

Won't be able to do that til I have the suspension apart.

Small taper diameter:15.57mm
Large taper diameter:17.36mm
perpendicular distance between these two:14.17mm

I didn't think to take the stud diameter from tips of threads, but you should be able to draw the above to scale and work out the angles anyway from measuring, using Tangent, and or using a protractor.

EDIT: Oh, and you'll be pleased to know my HID retrofit to the XR projector lights is underway - using a chinese G3 projector.

Thanks heaps for that.
It confirms that it is, what's known as, a 7 degree taper.
It's actually a gradient of 1.5" per foot (7.15 degrees)

You know I still think you should have used a MiniH1, if you're going to the trouble to retrofit, but I'm sure it will still be a decent upgrade over stock.
Looking forward to see the results.

Yeah no probs, confirms what you were expecting.

Well with the HID's, I'd already bought these kits and had them for some time - they seem pretty well kitted out, prelim tests show pretty decent light output for 35W units. These do also have a solenoid operated hinge leaf that opens to expose the top sector of the beam for high beam.

I guess if you already have them, then you might as well.
Make sure you start a thread about them when you get underway.

Yeah, or just add it to an existing one.
