when you put into reverse or drive it makes like a bang noise like it is been smashed into gear in a way i think it might be the universal joint is just worn
any ideas?

Yeah sounds like a uni. Easy to check. Slide under and try to turn the shaft with it in park. Shouldn't move at all. If it does the uni is knackered

it turns out not to be the uni joint its in ok cond it must be the trans would a good service fix that or ?
