I picked up my new king lows and bilstein shocks on the weekend and need to get them installed. I would like to do it my self as i don't think its too hard but of course dont wanna f**k anything up. How hard is it to do and will i need and special tools?? also will i need to get a wheel alignment done after i do this??

Cheers

Hey Mate,

This is best done with good car body stands, trolly jack, spring compressors and a basic socket and spanner set.

A wheel alignment and possibly even installation of an adjustable camber kit would be a good idea.

These are going on an ef fairymont. I was thinking of superlows but im a drummer and when i have all my s**t in the car it looks lowered lol so i think supers would be too much and i want a smooth ride.

As far as tools go ive gotspanners and s**t but no body stands, spring compressors or a trolley jack.

was gonna buy spring compressors it there not too much and a trolley jack i was looking at getting anyway, would that be enough??

Its really best to have spring compressors to do the front struts. The job can be a little tough if you haven't atleast seen it done before.

If you dont want to do it yourself, there are some Sydney members who may assist for a few dollars. Otherwise speak to Crescent Motorsports @ Liverpool, they look after all Fordmods members.

Cheers

i got it done rears were piss easy front s a little harder i just jumped on msn and asked waggin what to do evey 5 mins.
i nearly lost a leg not using compresors on teh fronts lol, u can pull them out with out compressors to get the spring off the front srut you will need compressors.
i decided not to use em for one spring caus it would take to long ouch copped a spring in the side of the knee not funny.

give it ago ureself just make sure you have time on ure hands will take a while doin it the first time

If you can get hold of a trailer this weekend you can pick up your block and maybe get the suspension done ;)

Cool. We'll be pulling the head off just after midday, once its off we can pull out the short motor for you.

We'll need to borrow your ute/trailer to pick up an engine crane from a couple of suburbs over.

i don't want to sound like an old timer. but if you install them yourself i believe you forefit the warranty with those nice and expensive blistiens.
