G'day

I want to change the oil in my t5 xr6 box. I know which is the drain plug but which is the filler hole? Do you need to put teflon tape around the thread of the drain and filler plug?

Cheers

the filler is about 3inches directly above your drain plug, the drain and filler plugs are identical. good idea to clean the threads with a wire brush or something and re-apply teflon tape or some kind of thread sealer. o just make sure u put the right fluid in it too.

I'd use the tape just in case you get a bit of loctite in the 'box when putting it on the thread heh. Where do you get the tape from voids? My box is about due for some new oil.

you can get thread tape /teflon tape from the plumbing section of your local hardware shop.

Ford recomends (out of the workshop manual) -Dexron II -ATF (motorcraft R1-36) - 1.9L
Oil aditive lubrizol 7906 - 150ml

as for thread tape...... get either the thick pink plumbers tape, or the thread string that loctite makes

i suppose the other very important part is suggestions on how best to get the oil in the box. I did it with an old dishwashin container - filled it up with oil and squeezed it in the hole.. lost a bucketload of it on the floor though...
