i have a knocking sound when i hit a bump or a pothole in my suspension. is this a sign that i need to replce them?
how much would it cost to do the suspension and the bushes?

i had a bad knocking/clunking sound coming fromt he back. it was that one of my shockers had given up. not that expensive.

it could be any of a number of things.. try describe the sound and where its coming from (front or rear). is it massive pot holes or happening even when u come out of a driveway? is your car lowered?

as the man says could be a number of things! shockers, bushes, tie rods, steering rack, steering shaft, steering colum bearing, wheel bearings, exaust knocking almost anything!!!

my mums laser has the same sound, front left, small holes and slight bumps, makes a real heavy clunking sound

yeah went to bowers suspension in newcastle today and they said it could be due to a wheel bearing that needs adjusting..... but i dont think this is the only problem

is it from the front? or back?
is it lowered?

yes it if lowered and it is front and back.
the tyres rnt scrubbing at all and i have never had a problem with that the front could be a wheels bearing and i think something to do with the steering mechanism

check the steering rack bolts aren't loose, this sounds like a weird problem, what are all the bushes like (swaybar, trailing arms, etc)?

yeah the bushes are good but yeah i might get the steering bolts checked cause i had a bit of a problem with it a couple of months back. ....

yeah steering rack bolts are always loose, for me they made a crackling sound when i turned my steering wheel slowly until i got em tightened..
you said your car is lowered: do you have a camber kit? after i got mine fitted, if i go over a seriously large bump it makes a clicking sound and it turned out to be one of the bolts sticking out from the camber kit clicking with my spring.. i just let it be coz i dont go over big bumps anyways happens when i brake hard as well since my car tips forward
