OK my AUII has 17's and i find the tires on it at the moment have a fair bit of road noise.can anyone point me in the way of a decent sort of tire for it as its probably the only thing i havnt got a clue about

Try some bridgestone re30's, not an overally expensive tyre that is biased towards longevity/wear rather then outright grip. Good compromise for a road car. |

yokahama r a very gd tyre brand, mine basicaly hav no road noise at all ther 225 C or sumthin

ROFL... I trust you are kidding??? 
If you want to kill road noise, try stay away from directional rubber. They generally make more noise than non-directional... But at the same time, directional rubber generally has better wet weather handling. I have SP3000's on my car. Some people swear they are they noisiest tyre they have ever owned, I think its one of the quietest. |

LOL @ Sava's. I have them, not huge amounts of grip - but f**k they last. 50,000km up on mine and they still look new after many a burnout.

Noise aside, they also give less wet weather grip than a completely bald set decent rubber.
If you are selecting rubber based on noise levels alone, I'd really hate to be a passenger in your car.

Lucky you, both sets i have had, and still have a set of 18s are noisy as, they are a cheap tyre( not TIRE) and you get what you pay for, never again. |

Lol at the sava comment. I got mine in 17" about 23,000kms ago, fronts are still pretty good even tho i run s**t camber so the insides are balding. back left tyre is like new really.... back right tho thats another story
 as voxace said can get about 50,000kms out of em if you keep pressures right and dont do burnouts all the time. Id only ever run Sava's on the back for obvious cost reasons

I've got Goodyear Eagle NCT 5's or some crap in 15" and the grip is amazing!

No savas are.
I honestly got better grip from 235/45 r17 Cheetah remoulds.

savas are crap, i had them on the old ef and i hated them. they werent bad in the wet though.
sp3000 are noisy and dont grip well when they get to about half tread or less. im running nankangs now in 17in. form and i like them, even with almost unroadworthy tread they grip hard in both wet and dry and road noise is average. my next set of back tyres will be replaced with them again.
