My el fairmont ghia gearbox kicks down a gear or two after driving for approx one hour on a hot to warm day. I have had the gearbox serviced, switches replaced, but it is still doing it.

Has anyone had any problems with the oil cooler, do they ever tend to block or reduce flow of oil causing the oil to get too hot.

Any helpfull suggestions to solve problem would be appreciated. :)

I'd be making sure the oil level in the tranny is correct, and that it doesn't have coolant in it too.

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't had any coolant in the transmission oil and the oil level is correct. Have you heard of any oil coolers blocking up and would it be worth checking. I'm running out of options. :? :)

Grata man, Glad you got it sorted.. what exactly was wrong with the torque converter?

Before this topic gets completely lost in the wilderness.. Was just wondering what a good aftermarket cooler might be and roughly what one would pay for it?
